RESOLUTION NO. 68-98 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS REQUESTING GOVERNOR WILSON TO PROHIBIT THE USE OF METHYL TERTIARY-BUTYL ETHER IN GASOLINE WHEREAS,the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills supports efforts to repeal the federal requirement that gasoline contain oxygenates while maintaining air quality standards; and WHEREAS,the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills supports efforts at the state level to eliminate MTBE from fuel; and WHEREAS,the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills supports continued research into the public health impacts of MTBE in drinking water; and WHEREAS,the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills supports efforts to maintain air quality standards so state and federal transportation funds linked to air quality are not put in jeopardy; and WHEREAS,the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills supports legislation including HR 630 (Bilbray), 51576 (Feinstein), SJR36 (Johannassen), SB1926 (Mountjoy) and opposes AB2439 (Bowen). NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills supports measures to remove methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE) in gasoline so as to preserve the quality of our water supply.
