HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/14/1968PLAMq ING COMI'+IISSION TOdN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS 6 MINUTES OF A REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING February 1z, 1968 Chairman F. Minckley called the meeting to order at 7:50 P. M. at the Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills, California. The following mem- bers answered Roll Call: Present: Commissioners Bowler, Dawson, Lachenbruch, Perkins, and Chairman Minckley. Absent: Counissioneis Hibner and Sherlock. COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE: Councilman ,dim. Ross .Aiken. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: January 22, 1968. MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Commissioner Dawson moved, seconded by Bowler, and carried unanimously, that the Minutes of January 22, 1968 be approved as submitted. COMMUNICATIONS: 1. Memoranduo dated February 14, 1968 from Councilman Mary C. Davey to the Planning Commission suggesting that the Commission budget be increased to include a part-time planning consultant. Commission concurred that the Staff shouldinvestigate this possibility. 2. Memorandum from the City Manager to the Planning Commission suggesting that the Commission meet in official session once per month on the 2nd Monday of the month. He recommended that the 4th Monday of the month be strictly designed for planning. City Manager noted that official business could be conducted on the 4th Monday of the month if necessary in order to not delay an applicant. Commission indicated approval of this propsgul procedure. ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. Chairman Minckley announced that the County Planning Policy Committee has completed its recommendations and they will be available to the Commission in the near future. 2. Commissioner Dawson presented information on landslides to the Commission. COMMITTEE REPORTS: 1. Commissioner Lachenbruch noted that the Mid -Peninsula Foothills Planning Committae is completing its final recommendations and also noted that the City Council of Portola Valley recently approved the hiring of a geological consultant. OLD BUSINESS: LChairman Minckley introduced Bob Ross, representing the Santa Clara County Assessor's Office, tax bill with t'.,e who discussed the implications of slope density Commission. Mr. Ross noted that the enactment of to the slope density legislation would normally reduce the tax assessment. 4W 40 4W 4 VARl,NLES: 1. Hahn, H. T. (V-297-68) - Request for W reduction in front setback for garage and 20' reduction in side setback .for pool. Staff report was presented, noting that no objections had been received and recommending approval of both variance requests. Commissioner Dawson of the Map Committee reported on the property and recommended approval. Commission discussion ensued, with Floor participation by: hr. H. T. Hahn and A. B. Davis, registered building designer. Commission noted, that a proposed shel would have to be reduced in size to prevent extension of the house over the sWo setback line. MOTION, SSCONDaD ikND CARRIED: Commissioner Dawson moved, seconded by Bowler, that, pursuant to Section 65-906 of the State Planning .Act, the Commission approve thye variance application of H. T. Hahn (V-297-68) as subimittad. The Wbtion was carried by majority voice vote, Chairman Minckley opposed. 2. Goth, O..". Staff report was presented, noting that no objections had been received and recommending approval o£ the variance request. Commissioner Dawson of the Nap Committee raported on the property and recommended approval. Commission discussion ensued, with Floor participation by Mr. Dick lest, representing Lifetime Pools. Commission noted discrepancies in dimensions on the [map and discussed these with Mr. Nest. NOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Commissioner Bowler moved, seconded by Dawson, and carriesunanimously, that, pursuant to Section 65-906 of the State Planning Act, the Commission approve the variance application of 0.'A. Goth (V-298-68) for 25' reduction in front setback for pool. BUILDIIIG SITS APPROVAL: 1. Ayers, ''+J. R. (BSA -38-6S)- 1 lot, 1.724 acres, Moody Road. Commission discussion ensued concerning access to the property and the Check List was prepared. MOTION, SuCOidDED 0D C",RRIBD: Commissioner Perkins moved, seccndeO by Lachenbruch and carried unaninously, that the request of W. R. :Ayers (BsA-38-60); 1 lot, for building site approval be approved, subject to the terns of the Check List an: agency approvals.
