Introduction. -
This Los Altos Hills Plan proposes to designate a netzork of Bike Routes
throughout the community and to make the Little League Park and the Dr. B yrne
VUlderness Area accessaole by bicycle from every part of the town so that children
can reach them without requiring adult transportation. In addition,it should
be possible to bicycle to each of the schools attended by students from Los Altos-
Hills and to reach the libraries and business areas of Los Altos and Palo Alto.

This Recommendaticn the material from two means and two reports dated T..:arch 11
and April 8, 1963. It consists of a map, III, and Two Resolutions proposed
to adopt and implement this proposal, see pages two and three. P9ap III should be
considered an integral part of this Recommendation.
To indicate the possibilities for extended bicycling that are germain to this
proposal, a I+� of Bikev;zys proposed for Santa Clara County is also included.
This particular map has been redravm from the material presented by the Sub—committee
on Trails of the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Com—ission in the Mdrutes
dated February 15, 1957. The area covered by the Los Altos Hills Proposed Bike,
Planhas been circled. The routes recommended by the sub—committce have been in—
eluded on our plan and it may be seen that this total plan, if completed, 71ill
ma'.ce hundred of miles of Bikeways with gcui gradient available.
iz:enlo Park, Palo Alto, Stanford University and Alpine Road already have
Bikeway Routes labeled with the green Bikeway signs or paved paths that have been
considered as natural extensions of the bicycle routes proposed in the Los Slto5
Hills Plan. The committee has felt a resnonsibiltg to protect the immature bicycle
rider that uses Page Piill Road to reach the Palo Alto Foothills Pare At present
we have no',rea5onable alternate route to suggest.

To further show the relationship of the Los altos Hills proposed Plan,
another map has been included which shoos the relation of the Hills Routes to
the Existing Bi'ceway Routes and Bic ycle Paths in f.".onlo °ark, Palo Alto and
