HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/09/1968:TANNING COMMISSION TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING December 9, 1968 Chairman W. F. Minckley called the meeting to order at 7:46 P. M. at the Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills, California. The following members answered roll call: Commissioners Dawson, Hibner, Lachenbruch, Magleby, Weisbart, Chairman Minckley. Absent: Commissioner Perkins. COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE: Councilman John M. Fowle. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: November 25, 1968. Commissioner Dawson moved, seconded by Hibner and carried unanimously, that the Minutes of November 25, 1968 be approved as submitted. ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. Chairman Minckley noted that this would be the last meeting of Lowell W. Morse, City Manager. MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Commissioner Dawson moved, seconded by Hibner and carried unanimously, that the Planning Commission express their appreciation to Lowell W. Morse for his efforts during the past two years toward achieving the goals of the community. r COUNCIL REFERRALS: ` 1. City Manager noted that the Council had concurred +,ith Planning Commission denial of the request of Dr. H. J. Beaver for change of access to Arastradero Road for lots 5, 7, 8, Tract #2093 and had referred the matter back to the Planning Commission for review of a new alternative to be submitted by the applicant. City Manager noted the applicant's engineer would conduct pre- liminary hearings with the Staff prior to filing a revised application. 2. City Manager noted the Council had requested the Planning Commission to review Alternative II Tentative Map of the Parkside Subdivision, which would have exchanged five lots located in Byrne Park for the eight lots along Moody Road. City Manager stated that the Nature Conservancy had not approved the lot exchange and therefore the matter was not before the Commission at this time. VARIANCES: 1. IOlTZ, DR. MARTIN (V-315-68) - Request for 9' reduction in rear setback and 17` reduction in side setback for stable at 26850 Ortega Drive. Staff report was presented, noting the 17' public utility easement imposed a hardship on the lot, that all adjacent property owners had signed approval, and recommending approval. MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Commissioner Dawson moved, seconded by Weisbart and carried unanimously, that,pursuant to Section 65-906 of the State R%anning Act, the Planning Commission recommend approval of the variance application of Dr. Martin Katz (V-315-68) for 9' reduction in rear setback to 11' and a 11' reduction in side setback to 9' for stable at 26850 Ortega Driveā€ž VARIANCES cont'd.: 4/ 2. MOODY, ROBERT J. (V-316-68) - Request for 12' reduction in side setback and 18' reduction in rear setback for stable at 12854 LaBarranca Way. Staff report was presented, noting that construction of the stable has commenced, that the location appears logical due to the placement of the existing creek, fence and walnut trees, and recommending approval. Commissioner Weisbartgavc the Map Committee report, noting the adjacent property owners have approved the proposed location. MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Commissioner Hibner moved, seconded by Lachenbruch and carried unanimously that, pursuant to Section 65-906 of the State Planning Act, the Commission recommend approval of the variance application of Robert J. Moody (V-316-68) for 12' reduction in side setback to 18' and 18' reduction in rear setback to 12' for stable at 12854 La Barranca Way. 3. HECKER, DR. S. P. (V-317-68) - Request for 3' reduction in side setback for pool and 16' reduction in side setback for cabana at 12538 Briones Way. Staff report was presented, noting the close proximity to the adjoining Steele property and the limitations of existing trees, lawn and drainfields. Commissioner Hibner presented Map Committee report, noting that alternate pump location would appear reasonable and suggesting the cabana be located on the westerly side of the pool. Planning Commission discussion ensued, with Floor participation by Dr. `Hecker and Mr. Steele, 27798 Via Ventana. Dr. Hecker stated the cabana location was acceptable to adjoining property owners, if the pump and pool equipment were removed and located at the westerly end of the pool. MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Commissioner Magleby moved, seconded by Lachenbruch, that, pursuant to Section 65-906 of the State Planning Act, the Commission recommend approval of the variance application of Dr. S. P. Hecker (V-317-68) for 3' reduction in side setback to 27' for pool and 16' reduction in side setback to 14' for cabana at 12538 Briones Way, subject to the requirement that the pump be located at the western end of the pool, at least 30' from the property line, was carried by the following vice vote: Ayes: Commissioners Hibner, Lachenbruch, Magleby, Chairman Minckley. Noes: None. Abstained: Commissioners Dawson, Weisbart. Absent: Perkins. OTHER BUSINESS: Commission concurred that adjournment would be to the next Regular Meeting on January 13, 1969. There being no further business, Chairman Minckley adjourned the meeting at 8:25 P. M. to: STUDY SESSION: Path Maintenance. NEXT REGULAR MEETING: Monday, January 13, 1969 at 7:45 P. M. at Town Hall.
