TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING
January 12, 1971
Chairman Pro Tem Thomas P. McReynolds called the Special Meeting of the
Planning Commission of the Town of Los Altos Hills to order at 8:05 P. M.
at the Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills, California. The
following members answered roll call: Present: Commissioners Lachenbruch,
Magruder, McReynolds, and Spencer. Absent: Commissioner Hihner, Perkins,
and Chairman Weisbart.
DIVISIONS CP LAND:
MATADBRO OAKS TENTATIVE MAP (374-70) 43 lots, 75 acres, west side of Page
Mill Road, between Mirmirou and Alexis Drives. Engr. Geo. S. Nolte & Assoc.
Staff presented a proposed Check List, Revision January 12, 1971, which
incorporated the desires expressed by the Commission at their previous
night's meeting, January 11, 1971.
In discussing "ROADS" as proposed in the 1/12/71 Check List, the Commission
suggested that this be amended to state that the in -lieu payment for the
entire frontage along Page Mill Road, specify that it is for one-half width
of a two lane road built to Town Standards (24' pavement with 5' shoulders).
It was noted that the estimate upon which the payment is based would include
all necessary cut and fill and/or retaining walls. The request by the
applicant, that the costs of improving the Paseo del Roble/Page Mill Road
intersections be credited against the road in -lieu payment, was denied by
the Commission since they felt the subdivision would increase the hazard
which necessitated the improvements. Paseo del Roble and Roble Alto Courts
were to be public roads with 40' right-of-way. Roble Blanco was to be re-
designed by moving the cul-de-sac bulb approximately 150' southwesterly and
lots #25 through #28 would then be served by a public road retaining a 60'
right-of-way but narrowed to a 16' paved width.
In reviewing the conditions for the handling of "DRAINAGE", the Check List
was amended to insure special attention be given to lots #21, 23, 249 29,
30, 32, 37, 38, 39, and 43. Plans based on soils, geologic and hydrologic
studies were to be submitted with improvement plans in order to justify
these lots as building sites.
In discussing "PATH" conditions, Mr. A. M. Laws, Pathway Committeeman, stated
that the Pathway Committee desired an in -lieu payment rather than a path
installed along the frontage of Page Mill Road, but if a path were installed,
safety would dictate that it be a better quality path. The Commission con-
curred that any in -lieu payment be based on Path Type IIB.
The major change under "ADDITIONAL CONDITICNS" eliminated one lot from the
tier of lots #5 through #10, in addition to the one (1) lot from the tier
of lots #34 through #42 already proposed to be eliminated.
MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Commissioner Lachenbruch moved, seconded by
Magruder and carried unanimously that the Tentative Map of Matadero Oaks
(374-70) dated January 8, 1971 be recommended for approval for 41 lots, in
accordance with the Check List dated January 120 1971, as amended.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, Chairman Pro Tem McReynolds
adjourned the meeting at 11:30 P. M. TO: NEXT REGULAR METING: January 25,
