RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
APPOINTING GARY C. WALDECK TO THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMEMBER
FOR THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
WHEREAS, pursuant to § 10229 of the Elections Code of the State of California, as of
the close of the nomination period on August 8; 2014, there are not more candidates than offices
to be elected and that § 10229 of the Elections Code allows one of the following courses of
action to be taken by the City Council:
1. Appoint to the office the persons who have been nominated.
2. Appoint to the office any eligible voter if no one has been nominated.
3. Hold the election if either no one or only one person has been nominated.
WHEREAS, as required by§ 10229 of the Elections Code of the State of California, a
notice was published on August 12, 2014 in the San Jose Mercury News, a newspaper of general
circulation and on August 13, 2014 posted in three public places in Town, that there are not more.
candidates than offices to be elected;
NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the Town of Los
Altos Hills does determine and orders as follows:
Section 1. That pursuant to § 10229 of the Elections Code of the State of California,
the following action is being taken:
The following person is being appointed to the office to which he/she was nominated, and
is considered to be the same as being elected,pursuant to § 10229(a)(3) of the Elections Code:
Name Office Term -
Gary C. Waldeck Member of the Los Altos Hills City Council 4 years
Section 2. The person appointed herein shall qualify and take office and serve exactly
as if elected at a municipal election for the office.
Section 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption ofthis
resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
Section 4. Pursuant to § 10229 of the Elections Code of the State of California, the
City Clerk shall not accept for filing any statement of write in candidacy,which is submitted after
the appointment is made.
Section 7. That the City Clerk shall file a certified copy of this Resolution with the
Board of Supervisors and the Registrar of Voters.

The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of the Town of
Los Altos Hills at a special meeting held on the 20th day of August, 2014 by the following vote:
AYES: Radford, Corrigan, Harpootlian, Larsen

ABSTAIN: Waldeck
