RESOLUTION NO. 41-96
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
ORDERING AND CALLING A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD IN THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS ON NOVEMBER 5, 1996;
REQUESTING THE SERVICES OF THE REGISTRAR OF VOTERS;
REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION OF ELECTIONS AND
PROVIDING FOR GIVING NOTICE OF THE ELECTION
The City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills does RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. A General Municipal Election is hereby called to be held in and
for the Town of Los Altos Hills on Tuesday, November 5, 1996, for the purpose of
electing three (3) Councilmembers, each for a full term of four (4) years.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to Section 10002 of the Elections Code, the City Council
hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara ("Board of
Supervisors") to make available the services of the Registrar of Voters for the
purpose of providing the usual services necessary in the conduct of a consolidated
Municipal Election, including the provision of election supplies and voters'
pamphlets.
`` SECTION 3. Pursuant to Section 10403 of the Elections Code, the City Council
hereby requests the Board of Supervisors to order the consolidation of the General
Municipal Election hereby called within the General Election to be conducted within
the boundaries of the Town of Los Altos Hills on November 5, 1996, with respect to
which the Board of Supervisors has the power to order a consolidation. The City
Council further consents to and orders the consolidation of the General Municipal
Election hereby called with the General Election.
Upon consolidation, the consolidated election shall be held, elected officers
appointed, voting precincts designated, ballots printed, polls opened and closed,
ballots counted and returned, returns canvassed, and all other proceedings
conducted in connection with the election under the regulations of the Registrar of
Voters of the County of Santa Clara, in accordance with the provisions of the law
regulating elections so consolidated.

SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish a
Notice of General Municipal Election within the time and manner specified in
California Elections Code Section 12109.
SECTION 5. Pursuant to Sections 10228 and 13307 of the Elections Code, the
City Council approves and adopts the following uniform policies and procedures
concerning the Municipal Election to be held on November 5, 1996:
(a) Each candidate shall be permitted to submit a Candidate's Statement
of no more than 200 words.
(b) Candidates shall be exempt from charges for the cost of preparation and
mailing of said Candidate's Statements.
(c) Candidates shall be exempt from payment of any filing fee.
REGULARLY passed and adopted this 5th of June, 1996.
