M., Saturday, October 19, 1957, by Chairman Dawson, at the Town Hall, 26379 West Fremont, Los Altos Hills. ROLL CALL: PRESENT; Chairman Dawson, Sherlock, Stedman, Williams ABSENT: Bullis, Mellquist, Spain, Tantau Due to the lack of a quorum, the meeting proceeded as a Study Session. The next adjourned meeting will be held Thursday, 7:30 P. M., October 24, 1957. 1, County Boundary Commission - Notice of two proposed annexations. a) The proposed annexation designated as "Chaparro #4" is to be annexed to the City of Sunnyvale. b) The proposed annexation designated as "San Antonio #8" is to be annexed to the City of Mountain View. �w The correspondence will be filed. 2. City Attorne Gardner Bullis - Report on new legislation concern- ing Recor�f-ffu-r­vey. An investigation of the operation of Records of Survey showed that the new legislation prohibits the Town from controlling Records of Survey. There will be further discussion of this report at the next meeting. 3. City of Los Altos - Notice of meeting to be held. A meeting to develop a Community Facilities Plan for the Los Altos area will be held on October 17, 1957 at 8 P. M., at the City Hall in Los Altos, 333 First Street. The correspondence will be filed... #. E. C. Cooley - Request for Variance. Mr. Cooley requests a variance waiving all provisions in accord- ance with Subdivision Ordinance #19 as amended by Ordinance #25, Sect. II, Para. 2:20, with respect to 6+ acre parcel located north of Elena Avenue. This will be discussed at the next meeting. 5. Commissioner Proctor Mellquist - V Nai u; vone in abandoned ( quarry onElonl°f te-Ave=lue. ' �r The letter stated that grading and cutting is being done on the lot adjoining his home, and that the rock is being quarried and is hauled away. Mr. Mellquist suggests that the Planning Com- mission take steps to halt this procedure. Mr. Salfen stated that a Business License has been issued to Gillespie'Brothers and`a permit to grade for creation of building sites has also been issued. Mr. Simrell suggested that the "grader" be made to prove that he is grading in preparation for a building site, and to show that he is not grading to an excessive slope. Councilmen Bledsoe, Fowls, and Hoefler appeared. Councilman Bledsoe read excerpts from Ordinance #1. It was felt there may be sufficient grounds to void the permit issued for grading and cutting and the person or persons quarrying on the %ertz property could then be instructed to cease operations.. They could be informed that they may make application to the Planning Commission for further permission and at that time must establish future plans for this property. Commissioner Dawson drafted a letter to be sent to the City Council and to the City Attorney in regard to this problem, pass- ing on the suggestions of the Planning Commission. Councilman Bledsoe suggested that the new zoning ordinance should be drawn up for final adoption. A meeting to review the zoning ordinance was set for Wednesday, October 30, 1957, 7:30 P. M. at the Town Hall. 6. Los Altos Hills Association - Proposed Grading Ordinance. The Los Altos Hills Association submitted a draft of a proposed ordinance to control grading in the Town. This will be discussed at the next meeting. 7. Tri -County Planning Council - Notice of meeting to be held. The Council meeting will be held on October 26, 1957 at Veterans Memorial Building, Redwood City, beginning at 10 A. M. The Planning Commission will be represented by Chairman Dawson and Commissioner Stedman. 8. Santa Clara County Planning Department - Regarding the Hugh Mon- a5anproperty. The letter did not answer the question raised by the Planning Commission in regard to the Colvin property, abutting the Monahan property, but located in the County. (16r _3 - Mr. Salfen was instructed to teleF-e-e the Santa Clara Planning Department in order th clarify t.L.- mwcter before the next meeting, Chairman Dawson suggested that names be submitted for a new member to be appointed to the Planning Commission.
