TOWN OF LOS AUTOS HILLS
MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING
April 4, 1959
The Special Meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order
Saturday, April 4m, 1959 at 8:45 A. M. at the Town Hall, 26379 West
Fremont Avenue, Los Altos Hills by Chairman Proctor Mellquist.
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Ccmmissioners Kendall, Spain, Williams, Tantau
Chairman Mellquist
ABSENT: Commissioners Case, Dawson, Hayes
PUBLIC HEARING: Zoning Ordinance (#44).
Following comments relative to the purpose of the Ordinance, by Chair-
man Mellquist, the following action was taken.
ACTION:
That reading of the Ordinance be waived.
MOTION: Spain; SECOND: Williams; VOTE: Passed unanimously.
Questions and comments were invited from the Floor.
Mr. Richard Alves, representing the Pacific Gas & Electric Co. com-
mented on Section VII, 7:'}0, and stated that he had submitted a draft
of proposed wording to be considered. He further commented that in
Section II, 2:10 (%) 'Structures', utility poles are not excluded, and
that this would imply that building permits will be required. He fur-
ther stated that the requirement for Use Permit in Section VII, 7.-10
would hamper them in the procurement of rights of way.
Mr. Jim Gard, representing Pacific Telephone Co., commented that he
had also submitted a draft of proposed wording for Section VII, 7:70.
His comments relative to requirement for Permits concurred with Mr.
Alves.
The Chairman read the drafts from the Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and
the Telephone Company, and stated that the draft submitted by Mr. Gard
was more concise and implied the same meaning intended by Mr. Alves.
Mr. Alves stated that he would withdraw his draft.
Mayor Fowls asked Mr. Alves to submit a letter, stating his views, re-
lative to wording for Section VII, 7:70, to be submitted along with
the proposed Ordinance to the Council.
Commissioner Spain volunteered to study the two drafts submitted, and
submit an amended wording.
Relative to provisions of Section VIII, 8:10 and 8:20, the Chairman
stated any deviation could be handled by variance.
Chairman Mellquist asked for further comments or questions. There were
none. He stated that the Planning Commission will act on the proposed
