M. Saturday, December 19, 1959 at the Town Hall, 26379 West Fre- mont Avenue, Los Altos Hills. ROLL CIL L: FRESrTT: Commissioners :1ter, Case, Hibner, Tantau, Mellquist (arrived 8:41 A. M.), Chairman Williams ABSENT: Commissioners Dawson, Stevens MINUTES: Dece=ber 3, 1959. ACTION: :Adopt minutes of December 3, 1959 as submitted. 1. Cit Clerk - Mer.orandum, dated December 14, 1959, requesting a recorren ation for approval of road construction in the Palo Alto Hills subdivision in the City of Palo Alto. Maps were presented showing access from., Page Mill Road. Letters were read from. George Nolte, Engineer, regarding road standards and from Charles S. McCandless, City Engineer, relative to drainage problems. '.fter discussion, the .following reconrendation was made: RECOMMEND -.TION: That the map be submitted to the Map Committee for an on-site inspection and recorrendation and also submitted to the City Enineer and Planning Consultant for recommendation in regard to the access road and its intersection with Page Mill Road and also that the rap be submitted to the PlanningCommittee for momenta on problems created by this first Palo Alto subdivision adjacent to our Town. MOTION: Mellquist; SECOND: Tantau; VOT': Passed unanimously V-RIANCES: 1. Neal Walter J., Jr. CV -54-59) - Request for Reduction in Setback liequ rerena Commissioner Hibner reported for the Map Committee, recommending that the request be denied. He explained that the Committee did not consider this as a hardship case, and rointed out that the contours, as indicated on the rap, were inaccurate. Mr. Zahn, :xchltect, explained reasons for applying for a variance -2 - and presented his plans showing desired location of the house. Following discussion, at the request of the applicant, action was 4401 postponed until the roetin-, of January 'J, 1960. USE PERMITS: 1. Feninsula Bowrans' ',ssociation - Review of Permit. Mrs. Doris Sermon and Mr. Wayland Marlow, ne-.bers of the Penin- sula Bown:-ano', were present. RECOMMEND.',TION: That the Planning Co: -mission extend the Use Per -nit of the Peninsula Bowrans' :association to June 30th, 1960, subject to review at that tire. Hines represented the Frer.ont Hills Development Co. Map was presented which indicated several lots on :.nacapa Drive (Lots Nos. 12, 13, 14, 15, snd 16) as very steep. Letter frDr. Frevont Hills Development Conpany requested an indi- cation from the Planning Co:mission as to what variance would be allowed. It was explained that when the Units wore subdivided, attention was celled to these lots and it was suggested that they be larger than one -acre sites due to the topography. The general consensus of the Cormissioners, that each lot will have to be considered separately. NEW BUSINESS.• 1. Lupine Road Flan Line. Letter, dated December 15u, iron Nestor Barrett, relative to the procedure for adoption of the plan line rap. Resolution No. 4-59, setting the time and pl^ce for the Public t Hearing, was read. Comnissioner Hibnor suggested that the Commission rake an on site inspection of the proposed Flan Line with the City Engineer. Lupine Road cont'd. -3- 4 :,CTION: . 70. That Resolution No. 4-59 be r.dopted as read, and that the property owners fr^nting on the road be notified by rail of this hearing. Town Standards Sur-ary fror the F°ayor was read and discussed. The suggestion was rade that this sur_ ry be edited by Co:_rAssioner Mellquist, of the Flanning Corrittee, m' be subritted for consideration at the next rooting of the Planning Corrission. 4. Paths. Following a discussion of paths, .as described in the Standard Specifications, the Mayor requested the planning Corrission to specify, by letter, whether or not they wish to require paths on subdivisions on :.rastradero Road. The ratter was deferred to a study session to follow the second regular rooting on Jan- uary 16, 1960. Connissioner Tcntau was asked to subrit, in writing, his views relative to equestri^n trails by January 160, 1%0. k.ETING P.DJOURNED: 10:45 .L.
