HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/09/1980LIM VARIANCE AND PERMIT COMMISSION Town of Los Altos Hills 26379 Fremont Road Los Altos Hills, California MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING Wednesday, April 9, 1980 Reel 85, Side II, Tr. 2, 658 to 752 Chairman Stewart called the meeting of the Variance and Permit Commission to order in the Council Chambers of Town Hall at 7:00 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioners Lachenbruch, Rydell, and Stewart Absent: None Also Present: City Engineer/Planner John Carlson, Secretary Ethel Hopkins APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MOTION SECONDED AND APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY: It was moved by Commissioner Lachenbruch and seconded by Commissioner Kuranoff that the Minutes of March 26 be approved as ` stated. w PUBLIC HEARINGS: 1. LANDS OF LEAR, File #VAR. 7063-79, 26946 Dezahara Way, Request for Recommendation of Approval for Variance in Side Setback Area for an Addition: Mr. Carlson discussed the above request as detailed in his April 2 staff report. He noted that the applicant was adding to his dwelling to provide for three children in his family who would be coming to live with him. There would no increase in the amount of impervious surface on the lot. Mr. Carlson recommended that the Commission approve the request for variance, and noted that six reasons justifying the variance were included in the staff report. Commissioners discussed the matter briefly and then opened the hearing to the public discussion. William Lear, Applicant, responded to Commissioner Lachenbruch's question on additional landscaping for screening purposes by noting that landscaping already at the site pro- vided screening, but that he would not be adverse providing further screening. The public hearing was closed, Commissioners discussed the amount of footage and size of the house with the addition proposed. The following motion was passed: MOTION SECONDED AND PASSED UNANIMOUSLY: It was moved by Commissioner Lachenbruch and seconded by Commissioner Kuranoff to recommend approval of the variance request for the Lands of Lear, File #VAR. 7063-79, with the six reasons listed in the April 2 staff report, and with the following additional condition: (1) A landscape plan similar to the one shown on page three of the drawings dated May 12, 1979 shall be implemented.
