RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
ORDERING AND CALLING A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD IN THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS ON JUNE 2, 1992;
REQUESTING THE SERVICES OF THE REGISTRAR OF VOTERS; REQUESTING
CONSOLIDATION OF ELECTIONS AND PROVIDING FOR GIVING NOTICE OF THE
ELECTION
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered various matters relating to a Special
Muncipal Election on June 2, 1992;
NOW THEREFORE, the Town of Los Altos Hills does resolve as follows:
Section 1. A Special Municipal Election is hereby called to be held in and for
the Town of Los Altos Hills on Tuesday,June 2, 1992, for the purpose of submitting the
. following to the qualified voters of the Town of Los Altos Hills:
Advisory Ballot Measure Regarding Fire-Retardant Roofing
"Should the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills adopt an ordinance that
would require the roofs on new construction and the reroofing of existing structures to
have a minimum fire-retardancy classification of B?
Fire-retardancy roof classifications are those adopted by.the International Conference of
Building Officials.
Class A roof coverings are effective against severe fire test exposures. Under such
exposures, roof coverings of this classification are not readily flammable, afford a fairly
high degree of protection to the roof deck, do not slip from position and are not
expected to produce flying brands. Examples of Class A roofs are metal tiles; cement,
concrete or clay tiles; slate; and asphalt/fiberglass shingles.
Class B roof coverings are effective against moderate fire test exposures. Under such
exposures, roof coverings of this classification are not readily flammable, afford a
moderate degree of fire protection to the roof deck, do not slip from position and are
not expected to produce flying brands. Examples of Class B roofs are pressure-treated
cedar shakes over a plywood subsurface and metal or cement tile over a spaced-board
subsurface."

Section 2. Pursuant to Section 22003 of the Elections Code, the City Council
hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara ("Board of
Supervisors") to make available the services of the Registrar of Voters for the purpose
of providing the usual services necessary in the conduct of a consolidated Municipal
Election, including the provision of election supplies and voter's pamphlets.
Section 3. Pursuant to Section 23300 of the Elections Code, the City Council
hereby requests the Board of Supervisors to order the consolidation of the Special
Municipal Election hereby called with the Statewide Primary Election to be conducted
within the boundaries of the Town of Los Altos Hills on June 2, 1992, with respect to
which the Board of Supervisors has the power to order a consolidation. The City
Council further consents to and orders the consolidation of the Special Muncipal
Election hereby called the Statewide Primary Election.
Upon consolidation, the consolidated election shall be held, elected officers
appointed, voting precincts designated, ballots printed, polls opened and closed, ballots
counted and returned, returns canvassed, and all other proceedings conducted in
connection with the election under the regulations of the Registrar of Voters of the
County of Santa Clara, in accordance with the provisions of the law regulating
elections so consolidated.
Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish a Notice
of Special Municipal Election within the time and manner specified in California
Elections Code Section 22830.
