City Council Adjourned Regular Meeting
Wednesday, June 18, 1997, 5:00 P.M.

CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
Mayor Hubbard called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City to order at 5:15 p.m. in
the Council Chambers at Town Hall.

at 5:40 p.m.), Dauber, Johnson and Siegel

2. TECHNOLOGY IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE:
A. 1996 Accomplishments
Michael Scott, Chairman, presented an overview of the 1996 accomplishments. These included
the following: a set of new PCs connected by ethernet was selected and installed; a parcel data
base system was acquired that included County data and that would be augmented by staff to
incorporate essential data on every parcel in Town; a new finance package was reviewed and
approved by various interested parties; and the Town's ordinances were scanned into digital form
from had copy and spell checked.
B. Goals and Objectives for 1997
The following two goals were suggested for the coming yew: continue reviewing steps needed to
verify and systematically publish the digitized version of the Town's ordinances so as to provide
timely and economical updates; and continue examining the issue of replacing the microfiche
with digital archives.
C. Discussion of specific items brought up by committee and Council
Members or introduced in the goals and objectives
Chairman Scott commented that at the most recent committee meeting they had discussed the
goals for the coming year. They arrived at the conclusion that perhaps the best course was to stop
and reevaluate the programs now in place such as the parcel data base, new computer system and

new finance system and determine how well they were working and if changes were needed. In
line with this approach, Chairman Scott warned against pulling staff in too many different
directions. He suggested more focus on certain projects with reasonable timeframes was a better
approach to getting things done.
D. Council approval of 1997 Goals and Objectives
Council thanked the Technology Improvement Committee for their accomplishments during the
past year and agreed with their suggestion of evaluating projects that were now underway before
undertaking new goals.

There being no further new or old business to discuss, the City Council Meeting was
adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
