Council Chambers, 26379 Fremont Road 1. CALL TO ORDER. ROLL CALL, AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Mayor Tryon called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall. Present: Mayor Tryon and Councilmembers Dauber, Hubbard, Johnson and Siegel Absent: None Staff: City Manager Les M. Jones, II, Town Planner Linda Niles, Director of Public Works Jeff Peterson, City Treasurer Louise Parmett, Janice Bohman, Financial Consultant and City Clerk Pat Dowd Press: Don Brignolo, San Jose Mercury; Jan Shaw, Los Altos Town Crier 2. 1993-94 PROPOSED BUDGET -- STUDY SESSION Jim Steiner, Chairman - Finance Committee, stated that the Finance Committee had reviewed the proposed budget and their comments were set forth in the minutes of their June 14th meeting. He noted that if their recommended changes were implemented, they would have the following impact on the budget: General Fund Revenues Increase - $90,550; Insurance Cost Reduction - $20,000; and Town Committees Revenue Increase - $8,800. The Finance Committee thought the proposed budget was well done and they recommended its adoption with the changes they suggested. June 16, 1993 Adjourned Regular Meeting LW Council discussed several budget issues including the following: in lieu fees, sales tax, quarry costs, fines and forfeitures. Tryon asked for trends, charts to get a clear picture of expenses, etc. and she also asked for a report on fines and forfeitures. Council then developed a list of items they wanted to add to the budget. These would be discussed during later budget meetings but would be brought to everyone's attention at this time. These items included: the database program (Hubbard), move all one time projects into a separate section (Dauber), consolidate related budgets such as pathways, open space, weed abatement, etc. into one (Dauber), allocate $5,000 for community projects (Dauber), increase budget for hourly part-time help (Dauber), recap of all ongoing and new capital improvement projects - total dollars being spent on each project (Dauber), trend lines (Tryon), tree planting (Siegel), additional computers for new staff (Johnson), sound system (Johnson), Children's Shelter and Joint Venture (Tryon) and establishment of a non-profit foundation for community facilities (Tryon). 3.
