Council Chambers, 26379 Fremont Road 1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL Mayor Tryon called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 5:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall. Present: Mayor Tryon and Councilmembers Dauber, Hubbard, Johnson and Siegel. Absent: None Staff: City Manager Les Jones, II, Town Planner Linda Niles and City kir Clerk Pat Dowd. Press: None 2. INTERVIEWS FOR PLANNING COMMISSION AND STANDING COMMITTEES Tryon reported that in addition to receiving letters from A. Richard Jones and Clyde Noel requesting reappointment to the Planning Commission, Council had also received three applications. Mr. Sinunu had been unable to attend this meeting and had been interviewed by the Council at their Adjourned Regular Meeting on June 23, 1992. The other two applicants were Terry McDaniel and Dot Schreiner. Terry McDaniel, 10417 Lone Oak Lane and Chairman of the Environmental Design and Protection Committee, noted that in the six years she had been a volunteer on her committee she had learned quite a bit and she now believed her time could be better spent on the Planning Commission. Mrs. McDaniel further commented that as a partner in an architectural firm she also had the technical background and understood both sides of the process. She believed it was important to work with applicants and to address problems in the early stages of a project rather than when it was too late to correct them. July 1, 1992 Adjourned Regular Meeting 1 Dot Schreiner, 14301 Saddle Mountain Drive and Chairman of the Pathways Recreation and Parks Committee, expressed her interest in upholding the goals of the Town's General Plan and being part of the effort in retaining open space while respecting the property owners' rights. She was familiar with the Town's Codes and understood the terminology. Mrs. Schreiner noted her concerns about large homes, building out, fitting homes into existing neighborhoods, fences (solid fences on both sides of a path) and two-story facades. A. Richard Jones, 12660 LaCresta Drive, noted that he would be willing to serve for another term on the Planning Commission. He had an engineering background and believed it was important to preserve the rural character of the Town. Clyde Noel, 24160 Dawnridge Drive, noted that he had not missed a meeting in four years, nor had he embarrassed any Councilmembers, applicants or the Town. Mr. Noel quoted from Wallace Stegnar's new book on the issue of rural character and also suggested that the Town's ordinances be reviewed as a result of recent court decisions. He further believed that changes to the fence ordinance should be made. Council had also received an application for the Community Relations Committee and an application for the Safety Committee. Thornton Fisher, 25603 Fernhill Drive, addressed the Council concerning his application for the Safety Committee. He noted his interest in serving the community and commented that he would be willing to serve a term as chairman of the committee and would be willing to attend Council Meetings as a representative of the committee. Mr. Fisher expressed his interest in the emergency coordinators program which he believed was an important function of the Safety Committee. Linda Seidel, 26642 Purissima Road, noted that she had lived in Town for nine years and she believed it was time to get involved in the community. She believed she had the skills and talents to contribute to the Community Relations Committee in that her position working with the Daughters of Charity included organizing social events. Ms. Seidel further commented she would be willing to serve a term as chairman of the committee and would be willing to attend Council Meetings as a representative of the committee. July 1, 1992 Adjourned Regular Meeting 2 Council had also received an application from Viole McMahon who had indicated her interest in serving on any of the Town's Committees but had been unable to attend this meeting due to a previous commitment. Council agreed to hold Ms. McMahon's application until she was available to attend a meeting and Council could discuss with her specific areas of interest. Tryon thanked the applicants for their interest and noted that appointments would be made at the Regular City Council Meeting scheduled to begin at 6:00 p. m. 3. PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR 4. ADJOURNMENT There being no further new or old business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Patricia Dowd City Clerk The minutes of the July 1, 1992 Adjourned Regular City Council Meeting were approved at the July 15, 1992 Regular City Council Meeting.
