A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS AMENDING THE PERSONNEL RULES AND
REGULATIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AB 1522
WHEREAS, on September 10, 2014 the State of California enacted the Healthy Workplace
Healthy Family Act of 2014 (AB 1522), effective January 1,2015; and
WHEREAS, the AB 1522 paid sick leave provisions are effective July 1, 2015; and
WHEREAS,the Town of Los Altos Hills wishes to establish a paid sick leave policy pursuant to
AB 1522; and
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills does hereby authorize
amendments to the Personnel Rules and Regulations to be read as follows:
1. Amend Section 2.19—definition of"Immediate Family" in accordance with AB 1522.
2. Amend Section 5.4 to read that temporary employees are eligible for paid sick leave
provisions in accordance with AB 1522.
3. Amend Section 6.2 to state that California enacted AB 1522 and specify the requirements
to be met to qualify for paid sick leave, effective July 1, 2015.
4. Amend Section 6.4 to remove reference of immediate family, as to be defined as stated in
above amendment.
5. Paid sick leave benefits shall be effective July 1, 2015 and shall remain in effect until
modified, terminated, or rescinded by subsequent resolution of the City Council, or by
changes to applicable State or Federal law.
The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of the Town of
Los Altos Hills at a regular meeting held on the 18th day of June, 2015 by the following vote:
