RESOLUTION NO. 14-86
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE TOWN OF
LOS ALTOS HILLS APPOINTING MARY VAN TAMELEN AND BARBARA TRYON
TO THE OFFICE OF MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND DIRECTING
THAT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION SCHEDULED
FOR APRIL 8 , 1986 NOT BE HELD
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of the Town of Los
Altos Hills, County of Santa Clara, State of California, that
WHEREAS, on December 4 , 1985 , the City Council adopted Resolu-
tion No. 168-85 ordering a General Municipal Election to be held in
the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills on Tuesday, April 8 , 1986,
for the following offices :
Two (2) members of the City Council, each to be elected for
a term of four (4) years; and
WHEREAS, not later than 5 : 00 p.m. on February 4 , 1986 was the
last hour and day on which nomination papers could be filed by a
candidate for either of the above described elective offices because
one incumbent had not filed nomination papers by 5 : 00 p.m. on
January 30 , 1986 , and as provided for in Sections 22836, 22840 and
22840 . 5 of the Elections Code of California; and
WHEREAS, by 5: 00 p.m. on February 4 , 1986 only one person had
been nominated for election to each of the elective offices to be
filled at the General Municipal Election to be held on April 8 ,1986 ;
and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has submitted a certificate of the
foregoing facts and has informed the City Council that it may appoint
to each of the offices the person who has been nominated therefor
not later than February 18 , 1986 , or hold the General Municipal Elec-
tion all as provided for in Section 22843. 5 of the Elections Code of
California; and

WHEREAS, the City Clerk has published a Notice of the facts
described above and the courses of action available to the City
Council pursuant to Section 6061 of the Government Code of Cali-
fornia in a .newspaper of general circulation, namely, Peninsula
Times; and
WHEREAS, the City Council having considered the matter,
NOW, THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED as follows :
1. The City Council hereby finds and determines that Mary
Van Tamelen and Barbara Tryon respectively are the only persons
who have been nominated for each of the offices which were to be
filled and elected on a city wide basis at the General Municipal
Election scheduled to be held on April 8 , 1986.
2. Mary Van Tamelen be and she hereby is appointed to the
office of member of the City Council for a full term of four (4)
years commencing on Tuesday, April 15, 1986.
3. Barbara Tryon be and she hereby is appointed to the office
of member of the City Council for a full term of four (4) years
commencing on Tuesday, April 15, 1986 .
4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to sign and deliver
to each of the above named persons a Certificate of Appointment and
to administer to each of them the Oath of Office prescribed in the
Constitution of the State of California.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that pursuant to Section 22843 . 5 of the
Elections Code of California, the General Municipal Election for
April 8 , 1986 shall be not be held.
REGULARLY passed and adopted this 18th day of February 1986 .
