TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
26379 Fremont Road
Los Altos Hills, California
MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING
Wednesday, August 20, 1986
cc: Reel 180, Tr. I, Side I, 124-250
Mayor van Tamelen called the Special Meeting of the City Council
to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.
A. ROLL CALL:
Present: Mayor van Tamelen and Councilmembers Dronkert,
Fuhrman and Tryon
Absent: Councilmember Rydell
Staff: City Clerk Pat Dowd
4W B. INTERVIEWS AND APPOINTMENT TO THE LOS ALTOS LIBRARY
COMMISSION:
Council had received five applications for the Los Altos Library
Commission. Of the five, three were present for the interview
process. One of the applicants, Nancy Lofts, had been unable to
attend the meeting but had submitted a letter reiterating her in-
terest and noting that she would have sufficient time to serve on
the commission. Mrs. Judith Wilcziak had been out of town and
was therefore not available for the scheduled interview.
van Tamelen explained the voting procedure. Each Councilmember
would give their first choice five points, second choice four
points, etc.
Council then interviewed Elayne Dauber, Carol Kleyensteuber and
Kenneth Pearce for the Los Altos Library Commission. Each ex-
plained their interest in libraries, their willingness to serve
the community on this commission and their ability to spend the
time which would be required. Council commented that all of the
applicants were well qualified and very experienced.
LW
Judy Duque, Los Altos Library Commission, explained the meeting
L schedule of the commission and reported on the priority projects
\r' before the commission at this time. In particular, funding of li-
braries was of importance and to that end the commission was bec-
oming more visable by attending meetings at the local county
level and also by contacting the legislators.
kw
Council then voted on the Town's representative to the Library
Commission. As it happened, the vote was a tie and it was agreed,
as the hour of the Council's regular meeting was approaching, to
adjourn the special meeting and to vote again at the beginning of
the regular meeting and make the announcement at that time of the
representative to the Los Altos Library Commission.
C. ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further new or old business to discuss, the City
Council adjourned at 7:30 p.m.

Patricia Dowd, City Clerk
