The Council reviewed the draft budget for 1985-86. Mayor Dronkert ca noated that the
Finance Committee had received a copy of the docwrent and had expressed agree en with
the City Manager's approach. In addition to some editing changes, for example page
numbers on each page, the Council specifically discussed the City Manager's recon endation
for the purchase of a computer printer and word processing software and the capital
program for the Fr nt Road S -Curve. Concerning the word processing equip ant, it was
agreed Co»ncilmenbers Allison and Rydell would discuss their concerns and suggestions
with the City Manager after the study session. Regarding the S -Curve Project, Council
concurred that staff world note the Council's concern with the cost magnitude of the
S -Curve project and look into alternatives and report back to the Council with additional
information. In addition, staff would contact the project engineer, Paul Nowack, to
determine exactly what was involved in the $300,000 cost of the project and if, in his
opinion, there were other alternatives. Council also agreed that at a later date it would
be appropriate to hold a study session to review the S -Curve Project.
Mary Stutz, chairman - Pathways Cminittee, strongly supported the City Manager's remmrn-
dation tor the purcHase of motor roer and also strongly suggested retaining the S -Curve
project in the 1985-86 budget although additional information on costs and alternatives
was necessary.
It was agreed the City Manager would make the necessary changes to the budget as discussed
by the Council and the appropriate public hearings would be scheduled. The special meetinc
i of the City Council was adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Patricia Dowd, City Clerk
