A. He introduced Ibbert Dennett, Director of Public Safety and Jerry Bick, Fire Services Comnander of lbhnert Park. They `Mould explain to Ccunoil how their public safety department works and answer any questions Council may have. Mr. Dennett gave a brief overview of their public safety department which Rchnert Park has bad for approximately 17 years. The department had a full- time staff of 43 people and approximately 20 volunteers. (Potnert Park has a population of about 25,000.) He noted that recruitment was not a problem; the diversification of fire/police appealed to many. Fludammental training sessions were required for volunteers and the 'buddy system' was Toyed in that a rookie was assigned to a veteran firefighter. The city contracted out with an ambulance service. Mr. Dennett emphasized the basic premise of public safety - one can cross train people effectively. In response to several questions frcrn Council, Mr. Dennett and Mr. Bick explained the cemmumication systen, the work rotation schedule and the equip- ment needed. STAFF - REPORTS, CORRESPONDENCE AND ANNOUICEY+lE[SES: (continued) (Due to a previous comnittment, Councingcman Hillestad left the meeting at 4:45 p.m.) MU1'ION SPIANDED AND CARRIED: Moved by McReynolds, seconded by Nystrom and passed unanimously by all members present to work out an arrangement with Chief Dennett to put together a comprehensive public safety plan for applica- tion to I.AEW, a plan that the Town can live with in the event the application is successful. E. SPECIAL ORDERS: 1. Rea t for Final Map Approval, =S OF MEIMR, Tract #7010 (continued from January 21, 1981 meeting) The City Engineer noted that the following development restriction for Iot 6 should be placed on the final map: 'The height and location of any building shall not inhibit neighbor's views or be visibly obtrusive from off site of lot 6. The amount of impervious surfacing shall not exceed 8,600 square feet.' YOrION SBCONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Hillestad, seconded by Nystrom and passed unanimously by all members present to adopt Resolution #1335 approving final subdivison map and approving and authorizing execution of subdivision agreement subject to notation of development restriction for lot 6 on final map. (As a point of clarification it should be noted that at the meeting this item was taken out of order with concurrence of applicant's engineer and discussed at the beginning of the meeting. Therefore, Councilw man Hillestad was present at the time this item was brought before the Council.)
