ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmen Cheney, Helgesson, McReynolds, Mayor Grabowski Absent: Councilwoman Miller Staff: City Manager Robert Crowe, Deputy City Clerk Norma Hislop Press: None B. CURRENT BUSINESS: The Mayor announced the purpose of the Special Meeting, specifically to meet and talk with candidates who were seeking the Fifth District Seat on the Board of Supervisors in order to choose that candidate for Council's endorsement who appeared best able to represent the needs of the Town before that body. He also announced that Councilwoman Miller had disqualified herself from voting at this meeting since she had already personally endorsed a candidate, but would be in attendance later in the evening. The Mayor commented that each candidate would be given the opportunity to state their qualifications and views before Council and the public, after which, Council and any interested person could ask specific questions of each candidate. Those appearing this evening in order of their presentation before Council were: Mr. Peter Lewis, Los Altos Mrs. Audrey Fisher, Los Altos Mrs. Enid Pearson, Palo Alto Mrs. G. Steinberg, Los Altos Mr. William Kimes, Mountain View Mr. Terry Trumbull, Palo Alto After the appearance of the final candidate, a short recess was declared so that Council could study and review the applications and statements. d CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - November 15, 1974 6I Page Two The Mayor announced that Council would vote by ballot until a majority had been reached. After the first choice had been made, Council would also vote for an alternate Choice following their first selection for endorsement. Upon completion of the balloting, the Mayor announced that Council's endorsement for the candidate for the Fifth District Seat on the Board of Supervisors would be Mrs. Audrey Fisher of Los Altos. The alternate selection by Council was Mrs. Enid Pearson of Palo Alto. C. ADJOURNMENT: Council adjourned at 10:20 P.M. to an Adjourned Meeting on Monday, November 18, 1974 at 3:30 P.M. for the purpose of a Field Trip to review the proposed Bahl subdivision and several streets within the Town.
