Further to an inquiry of the City Manager by Councilman Grabowski, and following
discussion, as to whether the City Manager had considered including a line item
in the proposed budget for reserve for legal defense, specifically referring. to
the De La Raza Suit, Councilman Davey asked that the record show that there is
no ordinance specifying $.05 on the tax rate for litigation for the De La Raza
Suit, but that litigation was given as an explanation for the tax rate being
raised, and that the rate included $.08 for the categorized funds by ordinance --
$.05 for open space acquisition and $.03 for drainage.

tt Speaking from the floor, Mr. John Voulkos, representing the Daughters of Charity,
r Los Altos Hills, presented an invitation to the Town to participate in clearing
a grave of eucalyptus trees on the Daughters of Charity property, the Fire Dept.
of Los Altos having required the Order to do such clearing. Mr. Voutkos stated
that the request is based upon the fact that some of the trees in the grove
belong to the Town and that some expense could be saved by both the Town and
the Daughters of Charity in arranging a joint clearing project.
It was agreed by the Council that the matter be postponed, the City Manager
being requested to obtain an opinion from the City Attorney as to the Town's
responsibility for the grove, and to obtain additional information as to the
scope of the project from the City Engineer, as well as further information
regarding the costs involved.
