WHEREAS, by Resolution duly passed and adopted the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Rills called and ordered a Special Municipal Election for the purpose of electing one councilman to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Gordon Bowler, and WHEREAS, notice of said Special Municipal Election was duly- published as required by law and by said Resolution, and WHEREAS, it appears that said Special Municipal Election was duly held in accordance with law and said call on the 11th day of April, 1967, and the polls for said election were kept open during the time required by law, and that said election was held and conducted, and the votes thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof ascertain, determined and declared, all as provided by the laws of the State of Califor- nia, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Rills has duly convened at its usual meeting place on the 18th day of April, 1967, being the first Tuesday after the election and has received from the City Clerk a canvass of the returns of such election, and WHEREAS, said canvass was duly completed and the results thereof are as hereinafter set forth, and I WHEREAS, the following persons were voted upon for the -1- AA b PAI9gNT ... office of Councilman, unexpired term of Councilman Gordon E. Bowler: Walter A. Benson Barbara B. Eastman NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills: 1. That the City Council finds and hereby ratifies and declares the result of the Special Municipal Election held on April 11, 1967, to be as follows: a) That said Special Municipal Election was hold and conducted in the Town of Los Altos Hills, County of Santa Clara, State of Cali- fornia, on Tuesday, April 11, 1967, in the time, form and manner required by law. b) That there were four voting precincts: 1. Consolidated Precinct No. l con- sisting of county precincts 2381,2382 and 2395. 2. Consolidated Precinct No. 2, con- sistinof county precincts 2383, '387, 2393, and 2394. 3. Consolidated Precinct No. 3 con- siatin`g of county precincts 2384, 2385, 2390 and 2391. 4. Consolidated Precinct No. 4 con- sistiag of county precincts 2386, 2308, and 2392. c) That a canvass of the votes cast in said city for said office were duly held in accord- ance with the order of the City Council and in accordance with law. d) That there were four consolidated precincts numbered 11111 through 1141', and the following num- ber of votes was cast in each precinct for the candidates: AADRID A FAIRANT ....r. _ _ -2- AGGRIO i VAI®ANT AYT11H.TM AT LAW H No. ; VOTES FOR COUNCILMAN 1 Sanson 165 Eastman 155 2 Benson 219 7 0 3 Easttmmaan2192 0 4 Benson 144 Eastman 75 0 PBERI CONSOLIDATED BALLOTS SPOILED AND IH3T COUNTED 0 e) That 35 duly registered voters who ex- pected to be absent from their election precinct on the day of the election secured ballots from the City Clark,and that the City Clerk has certified to this Council that 35 of said absentee ballots issued by her have been cast in the time required by law. f) That all absent voter ballots have been duly received and canvassed in the time, form and manner as required by law, and the result of the absentee vote for the candidates are as follows; without regard to precincts: VOTES FOR COUNCILMAN BALLOTS SPOILED AND NOT COUNTED Benson,24 Eastman, 11 0 2. That the above canvass shows: a) That the total number of ballots cast in the City is 1,374. b) That the total number of votes for each person, including absentee ballots is: Benson 784 Eastman 590 IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that this Council does declare that _3.. Walter A. Danson had the highest number of votes for said office, and that he was therefor elected to fill the unea- pirad terra of Councilman Gordon R. Dowler. IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and she is hereby instructed to eater this resolution in full in the minutes of this Council as the statement of the result of said Spacial Kanicipal Election, and that the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorised and directed to perform any and all incidental duties required by law in connection herewith.
