HomeMy WebLinkAbout1434 w • • RESOLUTION NO. 1434 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS DECLARING CANVASS OF RETURNS AND RESULT OF GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION WHEREAS, by proceedings heretofore duly had and taken, a General Municipal Election was held in the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills on April 13, 1982, in accordance with law, and the voters thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof ascertained, determined and declared in all respects as required by law, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills, as follows : 1. The City Clerk of the City be and he is hereby instructed to enter this Resolution on the Minutes of this Council as a statement of the result of said election. 2 . The total number of ballots cast in the City at said General Municipal Election was 2,203 ballots. 60 ballots were spoiled and not counted. 3. ANDREW ALLISON and MARY vanTAMELEN received the highest number of votes cast for the Office of City Councilman for which each was a candidate and said persons were thereby elected to said offices for a full term of four (4) years . The City Clerk is hereby authorized to sign and deliver to each of the above- named persons a Certificate of. Election and to administer thereto the Oath of Office prescribed in the Constitution of the State of California. -2- r • • 6. At said General Municipal Election the following measures, namely, Measures A and C were submitted by the City Council, and the following initiative measure, namely, Measure B, respectively, were submitted to the electors of the City and the number of votes given in the City for and against each such measure (including absentee votes) was as follows : Total Total Vote Vote "YES" "NO" MEASURE (A) : Shall the City Council be permitted to establish and maintain a Public Safety Department to provide any one or more of the following services : Police, Fire and/or Emergency Medical Services in the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills? 382 1 ,752 MEASURE (B) : Shall the Initiative Ordinance requiring that Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services continue to be provided at the present level of service or better within the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills by way of contracts with public agencies other than the Town, unless the Electors approve furnishing of any of these services by the Town itself, be approved? 1, 769 371 MEASURE (C) : Shall the Ordinance of the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills imposing the following maximum annual special tax for police protection services be approved in order. to continue or improve the present level of service? All absent voter ballots have been duly received and can- vassed in time, form and manner as required by law, and the result of the absent vote for and against each of the measures submitted at said General Municipal Election is as set forth above. 9 . Less than a majority of all of the votes cast at said General Municipal Election on Measure (A) were in favor of said Measure, and Measure (A) failed and did not pass . 10. More than a majority of all the votes cast at said General Municipal Election on Measure (B) were in favor of said Measure, and Measure (B) passed. • 11. Less than two-thirds of all of the votes cast at said General Municipal Election on Measure (C) were in favor of said Measure, and Measure (C) failed and did not pass. -4- • 1111- REGULARLY passed and adopted this 20th day of April, 1982 .
