RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AND FIXING
ANIMAL CONTROL FEES
WHEREAS, heretofore the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills
adopted by reference the Santa Clara County Animal Ordinance with
certain amendments thereto; and
WHEREAS, recently the Board of Supervisors has established
new fees for certain services and the City Council desires to
approve the same fees for the same certain services , herein set
forth, performed within the boundaries of the City of the Town of
Los Altos Hills,
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED as follows :
1. The fee for inspection and ordering of quarantine of any
dog within the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills is hereby fixed
and established as $20 .00 for each quarantine order (plus actual
costs of housing, feeding and otherwise caring for the quarantined
dog) ; provided, however, the administrator designated by the County
of Santa Clara to administer the Animal Ordinance may waive the
inspection and quarantine order fee in the following cases :
(a) Hardship, the standard for which is a proven
inability to meet ongoing family expenses for the
necessities of life; that is, food, clothing and
shelter;
(b) Where the dog is only suspected of having
bitten a person;
(c) Dogs used by government law enforcement
personnel;

(d) Guide dogs for the blind and hearing dogs
for the deaf; and
(e) Dogs that have bitten any person who is
not legally on the property of the owner of the
dog.
2. The fees for dog licenses to be charged an owner for each
dog are hereby fixed and established as follows :
(a) Twelve-month dog license fee
(except spayed or neutered) $ 12 .00
(b) Twelve-month dog license fee
for spayed or neutered 6 . 00
(c) Prepayment of two consecutive
one-year dog license fees
(except spayed or neutered) 20 . 00
(d) Prepayment of two consecutive
one-year dog license for spayed
or neutered 10 . 00
(e) Penalty (imposed for any applica-
tions received 60 days after
expiration of any existing license
or 60 days after notice to obtain
a license) 6 .00
(i) Provided, however, a person raising and training
a dog for service as a guide dog for a blind person may
be issued, one time only, a one-year dog license without
charge, provided that the person raising the dog is not
receiving remuneration for doing so; that the dog is
owned by a nonprofit corporation, licensed by the State
of California, for or engaged in the business of providing
trained guide dogs for blind people; and that the person
raising and training the particular dog in question can
present acceptable documentation of these facts .

(ii) A dog owner who has attained the age of 65.
years and who owns only one (1) dog shall not be re-
quired to pay annual renewal license fees for the
one (1) dog, provided the dog is spayed or neutered
or a doctor of veterinary medicine certifies that
the dog cannot be spayed or neutered for health
reasons .
3. The fee for cat registration (5 year duration) is fixed
and established as $5. 00 .
