RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
ORDERING AND CALLING A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2014, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS AS
REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RELATING TO GENERAL LAW CITIES; AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA TO CONSOLIDATE SAID
ELECTION PURSUANT TO SECTION 10403 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE;
PROVIDING FOR NOTICE OF THE ELECTION; AND ADOPTING UNIFORM
POLICIES PERTAINING TO CANDIDATE STATEMENTS AND FEES
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to general law cities in the State of
California, a General Municipal Election shall be held on November 4, 2014, for the election of
municipal officers; and
WHEREAS, the term of two (2) members of the Town of Los Altos Hills ("Town") City
Council are due to expire and the positions must be filled; and
WHEREAS, Elections Code Section 10002 requires the Town to reimburse the County
in full for the services performed upon presentation of a bill to the Town by the County Elections
Official.
WHEREAS, Section 12109 of the California Elections Code provides that the elections
official conducting the election shall give notice of the designation of a central counting place for
the voted ballots of the Town General Municipal Election.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS
HILLS DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1. That pursuant to the requirements of the Elections Code of the State of California relating
to General Law Cities, there is called and ordered to be held in the Town of Los Altos
Hills, California on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, a General Municipal Election for the
purpose of electing two (2) Members of the City Council, each for a full term of four(4)
years.
_ 2. Pursuant to Sections 10400, 10402, and 10403 of the California Elections Code, it is in
the best interest of the public to consolidate the Los Altos Hills General Municipal
Election with the Statewide General Election to be held on November 4, 2014.
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED:
1. That the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara("Board of Supervisors") is
requested to consolidate the Town of Los Altos Hills General Municipal Election with

the Statewide Election on November 4, 2014, for two (2) Los Altos Hills City Council
seats.
2. That the Board of Supervisors is requested to make available the services of the Registrar
of Voters of the County of Santa Clara("Registrar of Voters") for the purpose of
providing the usual services necessary in the conduction of said election, including, but
not limited to, the provision of election supplies, voter pamphlets, ballots, notices,printed
materials and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to
properly and lawfully conduct the election.
3. That the Registrar of Voters is authorized to specify the location for the tally of ballots,
canvass the results of the two City Council seats and certify the results to the City Clerk
of the Town of Los Altos Hills.
4. That the City Clerk shall file a certified copy of this Resolution with the Santa Clara
County Board of Supervisors and the Registrar of Voters.
5. That the City Manager is authorized and directed to compensate Santa Clara County for
the cost of conducting the General Municipal Election for the City.
6. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish a Notice of General
Municipal Election within the time and manner specified in Section 12101 of the
California Elections Code.
7. That in all particulars not recited in this resolution, the election shall be held and
conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections.
8. Pursuant to Sections 10228 and 13307 of the California Elections Code, the City Council
approves and adopts the following uniform policies and procedures concerning the
General Municipal Election to be held on November 6, 2014:
a) Each candidate shall be permitted to submit a Candidate's Statement of no more
than 200 words.
b) Candidates shall be exempt from charges for the cost of translations mandated by
the Federal Voting Rights Act and the preparation and mailing of said Candidate's
Statements.
C) Candidates shall be exempt from payment of any filing fee.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of the Town of
Los Altos Hills at a regular meeting held on the 15th day of May, 2014 by the following vote:
