HomeMy WebLinkAbout1130 RESOLUTION NO. .I130 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS COMMENDING ALEXANDER D. RUSSELL UPON HIS RETIREMENT AS CITY ENGINEER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills, County of Santa Clara, State of California, that WHEREAS, ALEXANDER D. RUSSELL who has served with distinction as City Engineer of the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills during the past five years will retire on June 30, 1978; and WHEREAS, a native of San Francisco, ALEXANDER D. RUSSELL, warmly known as "Alec" Russell, is a graduate of the University of California and a Registered Civil Engineer in the State of California; and WHEREAS, ALEXANDER D. RUSSELL has enjoyed a distinguished career In both the public and private sector, Including service as City Engineer of the City of Santa Cruz and Director of Public Works and City Engineer of the City of Monterey, as well as an Engineer with the City of Sacramento, together with employment as an Engineer by Kaiser Engineers in Oakland; and consulting engineering firms, including Charles S. McCandless; and WHEREAS, ALEXANDER D. RUSSELL has worked on a number of notable projects, including paving of the bridge deck and approach structure on the San Francisco- Oakland Bay Bridge, investigation of concretes used in construction of the Bonneville Dam on the Columbia River in Oregon, and the layout and foundation of Cox Stadium for San Francisco State College, now California State University at San Francisco; and WHEREAS, ALEXANDER D. RUSSELL has been active as a member of a number of pro- fessional organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Public Works Association, for whom he serves as Historian and Chief Editor of its monthly newsletter, and the American Concrete Institute, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills hereby expresses its appreciation to ALEXANDER D. RUSSELL for his service as City Engineer and extends to both ALEXANDER D. RUSSELL and his wife, EVELYN RUSSELL, Its best wishes for a long, active and happy retirement.
