ORDINANCE NO. 322
AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS ORDERING ITS
GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE SAME DAY AS
THE STATEWIDE DIRECT PRIMARY ELECTION
The City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills DOES ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. FINDINGS.
(a) The Town of Los Altos Hills has been required to hold a
General Municipal Election to fill all elective Town offices on the
Second Tuesday in April in each even numbered year pursuant to
Sections 2601 of the Election Code, and Section 36503 of the
Government Code.
(b) Section 36503.5 has been added to the Government Code
to allow a City to select another day on which to hold its General
Municipal Election, namely, the same day as the statewide direct
primary election or the statewide general election, or school district
elections.
(c) The City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills
determined it to be in the best interest of the people to order the
General Municipal Election to be held on the same day as the
Statewide Direct Primary election in order to encourage more
Town voters to participate in the electoral process, and to achieve
any related cost savings.
SECTION 2. ELECTION DAY.
The General Municipal Election to fill all elective offices in the Town of
Los Altos Hills be, and it hereby is ordered to be held on the same day as the
Statewide Direct Primary Election, namely, on the first Tuesday after the first
Monday in June of each even -numbered year.
SRCPION 3. FIRST RUCTION.
The first election to be held under this Ordinance shall be held in the
calendar year 1990, and, thereafter, as provided in Section 2 hereof.
SECTION 4. NOTICE; CITY CLERK.
The City Clerk is directed, within thirty (30) days of the operative date
of this Ordinance, to cause a Notice to be mailed to all registered voters
informing the voters of the change in the date of the General Municipal
Election, and that as a result of the change in the date of the General
Municipal Election, elected City office holders' terms in office will be
extended.
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE: POSTING.
(a) This Ordinance shall become effective when approved by
the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara.
(b) This Ordinance shall be posted within the Town of Los
Altos Hills in three (3) public places.
The within Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills held this 1st day of June, 1988, and was
thereafter passed and enacted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
Town of Los Altos Hills this 15th day of June, 1988, by the following roll call
vote:
AYES: Councilmember: Casey, Johnson and Tryon
NOES: Councilmember: Siegel and van Tmnelen

On June 15, 1988, the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills,
California adopted Ordinance No. 322 changing the election date for the
Town's General Municipal Elections from the second Tuesday of April in
each even numbered year to the same day as the Statewide Direct Primary
Election which is held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in June of
each even numbered year. The first election to be held under this
Ordinance will be held in 1990.
You are further notified that as a result of this change in the election
date, Councilmember's terms will be increased by two (2) months.
