HomeMy WebLinkAbout121ORDINANCE NO. 121 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 78 BY ADDING NEW SECTIONS THERETO PERTAINING TO MINIMUM AREA OF STEEP LOTS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. This ordinance is adopted pursuant to Section 65858 of the Government Code of the State of California, and the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills does hereby find and determine that the Planning Commission of said City is considering or studying or intends to study within a reasonable time proposals relating to appropriate zoning regulations for steep sites. This ordinance is therefor adopted as an urgency measure to protect the public health, safety and welfare of the Town of Los Altos Hills. SECTION II. Ordinance No. 78 of the Town of Los Alto: Hills adopted December 4, 1962, is hereby amended by adding to Section VIII thereof two new subsections as follows: '18:11 Special Rule for Steep Lots. Notwith- standing the general rule expressed in Section 8:10 above, the minimum net area of every lot used for a dwelling, if the average slope of said lot (or any portion thereof of an area of one acre or more) is in excess of 25%, shall be not less than 87,120 square feet net and only one primary dwelling unit shall be allowed on such lot. 118:12 Average Slope. For purpose of this ordi- nance, the average slope of a lot shall be determined as follows: LADOFID & FAIBANT -1- 940-8200 C %4W *A0 Either by determining the average slope by measuring the slope of the Land (using generally accepted engineering methods) at a number of points (the number and location of such points to be subject to approval of the Town Engineer) on the parcel and then averaging the measure- ments, or, in the alternative, and at the option of the subdivider or owner, by using the contour measurement method using the following formula: S= 2.29 x 10-3 (IL) A where I= Contour Interval L=Combind length of contour lines in scale feet A =Total included acreage S =Average slope in %." SECTION III. Except as hereby amended, said ordinance No.78 shall continue and remain in full force and effect. SECTION IV, Being an urgency interim ordinance, adopted pursuant to Section 65858 of the Government Code, this ordi- nance shall be effective immediately upon its adoption, and shall, unless previously extended, expire and be of no further force and effect ninety days from the date of adoption. SECTION V. This ordinance shall be posted in three (3) public places within the Town of Los Altos Hills. as an urgency measure The foregoing ordinance was adopted/at a regular meding of the City Council held on May 15, 1967, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen Aiken.
