ORDINANCE NO. 176
AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO.64 OF SAID TOWN AS AMENDED BY AMENDING THE
ANNUAL RATES OF CERTAIN BUSINESS LICENSES, AND BY
IMPOSING A LICENSE TAX UPON HOME OCCUPATIONS.
The City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills does
hereby ordain as follows:
SECTION I Ordinance No.64 of the Town of Los Altos
Hills, passed and adopted by the City Council of the Town
of Los Altos Hills on June 6, 1960, as amended by Ordinance
No.153, passed and adopted by the City Council of the Town
of Los Altos Hills on January 20, 1969, is hereby amended
as follows:
a) SECTION XIX of said ordinance is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"SECTION XIX LICENSE TAX Every person engaged
in business within the Town of Los Altos Hills shall pay
a license tax as hereinabove provided in an amount
determined in accordance with the following schedule.
A. Contractors with or without a fixed place
of business within the Town of Los Altos Hills:
1. General Contractor, including
building, paving, repair and
remodeling operations $ 60.00
2. Sub -Contractors, including but
not limited to plumbing,
electrical, heating, tile,
roofing, etc. 50.00
B. Delivery trucks, of any size, whether
or not following fixed and customary delivery
routes, per truck 30.00
C. Services such as professional
services, gardeners, and swimming pool
maintenance operators 30.00
D. Septic Tank Pumpers 120.00

E. Amusement parks, picnic grounds,
restaurants and dancing facilities $195.00
F. Engineers and Architects 35.00
G. Real Estate Brokers and Agents 50.00
H. All other businesses 50.00 "
b) A new SECTION XXVIII is hereby added to read as
follows:
"SECTION XXVIII HOME OCCUPATIONS Every home
occupation permitted and conducted pursuant to the
terms of the zoning ordinance of the Town of Los Altos
Hills shall be deemed a business for purposes of this
ordinance, and shall be subject to all of the provisions
hereof, and, unless such business falls within one of the
specific categories of SECTION XIX of this ordinance, the
annual license tax for each such business shall be the
sum of $35.00. The keeping or stabling, whether or not
for profit, of horses not owned by the owner or person
entitled to possession and use of the premises upon which
such horses are kept or stabled, shall constitute a home
occupation for purposes of this ordinance, provided that
the annual license tax shall be $35.00 for the first two
horses normally kept, plus $2.00 for each of the next ten
kept,
horses normally/ and an additional $1.00 for each horse
in excess of twelve; provided, however, that nothing herein
shall be deemed to except such keeping and stabling of horses
from any and all other applicable ordinances and regulations
of the Town of Los Altos Hills."
SECTION II Except as hereby amended, Ordinance No. 64
as amended shall be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION III This ordinance shall be posted in three
public places within the Town of Los Altos Hills and shall

become effective 30 days following its adoption.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was
introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the Town of Los Altos Hills on July 6, 1970, and was
thereafter, at a regular meeting of said Council held
on July 20, 1970, passed and adopted by the following
roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen Aiken, Davey, Grabowski, Helgesson, Mayor Benson
NOES: None
