ORDINANCE NO. 182
AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO.145 OF SAID TOWN, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO DOG
LICENSES.
The City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills, California,
does hereby ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the Town of Los Altos
Hills hereby finds and determines that, pursuant to Ordinance
No. 145, as amended, the Town of Los Altos Hills adopted certain
Sections of the Santa Clara County Ordinance Code, and that said
adoption was accomplished pursuant to Sections 50022.2 and
following of the California Government Code.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to Section 50022.7 of the California
Government Code, Sections of said Santa Clara County Ordinance
Code having been amended, the corresponding sections as adopted
by Ordinance 145, as amended, are hereby amended to read as
follows:
114.3.2-3: Disposition of Impounded Animals
When any licensed animal is impounded, such fact will be
noted and entered in the records of the County Health
Department. The Rabies Control Operator shall also
immediately notify the owner of the impounded animal,
if known to him. The posted notice shall contain a
description of the said animal impounded and shall set
forth the fact that unless it is reclaimed before the
time specified in said notice, which time shall not be
less than three (3) days nor more than ten (10) days from
the posting thereof, the Rabies Control Operator shall
proceed to dispose of said animal; provided, that all
animals so taken into the custody of the Rabies Control
Operator which, by reason of age or disease or other
infirmity, are unfit for further use, or dangerous to be

manner as soon thereafter as is conveniently possible,
and in case of such destruction of such animal, the
Rabies Control Operator shall not be required to give
the aforesaid notice.
The Rabies Control Operator shall dispose of any animal
which is impounded and unredeemed within the time
specified in the posted notice and in the manner set
forth in Section 6.1.2-3 and herein."
"4.3.3-1: License Tax
A dog license tax of $4.00 per annum shall be paid for
each dog within the County, except that the tax for a
license purchased more than sixty (60) days after any
notice to the owner to obtain a license shall be $7.00.
The owner of any dog not exempt from the tax shall be
personally liable for the said tax."
"4.3.3-6: Metal Tags
With each dog license the Director of Public Health
shall issue a metal tag bearing an identifying number
and the words and letters "S.C.Co. DOG LICENSE."
Each dog shall wear the metal tag issued for it at all
times. In the event that it is necessary to issue a
duplicate tag, a fee of $2.00 shall be charged to the
owner."
SECTION 3. Said Ordinance No. 145, as amended, shall
be and remain in full force and effect except as hereby amended.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall be posted in three (3)
public places within the Town of Los Altos Hills and shall
become effective thirty (30) days following its adoption.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was
introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
Town of Los Altos Hills on the 5th day of April, 1971, and
was thereafter, at a regular meeting of said Council held on
April 19, 1971, passed and adopted by the following roll call
vote:
AYES: Councilmen Corbett, Davey, Helgesson, Mayor Benson
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Grabowski
