ORDINANCE NO. 97 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS PROHIBITING <br />SOLICITATION UPON PRIVATE PROPERTY, DECLARING VIOLATION TO <br />BE A NUISANCE, PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION, AND <br />DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF AN EMERGENCY <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1: It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in <br />business as a canvasser or solicitor, calling at residences within the <br />Town of Los Altos Hills, without the previous consent of the occupant, <br />for the purpose of soliciting orders, sales, subscriptions or business <br />of any kind, or seeking for information or donations. <br />Section 2: The practice of going in and upon private residence <br />properties in the Town of Los Altos Hills by solicitors, peddlers, hawkers, <br />itinerant merchants or transient vendors of merchandise, not having been <br />requested or invited so to do by the owner or owners, occupant or occupants <br />of said private residences, for the purpose of soliciting orders for the <br />sale of goods, wares and merchandise and /or for the purpose of disposing <br />of and/or peddling or hawking of same, is declared to be a nuisance and <br />is prohibited. <br />Section 3: The provisions of this ordinance shall not apply to <br />officers or employees of the city, county, state or federal government or <br />any subdivision thereof when on official business. <br />Section 9: Every violation of this ordinance or any provision <br />thereof shall constitute a misdemeanor, and every person committing the <br />same shall be punished by a fine of not more than $500.00 or by imprisonment <br />in the County Jail for not to exceed six (6) months, or by both such fine <br />and imprisonment. <br />Section 5: It is the intention of the City Council that each <br />separate provision of this ordinance shall be deemed independent of all other <br />provisions herein, and it is further the intention of the City Council that <br />if any provision or application of this ordinance is declared invalid, all <br />other provisions, and applications thereof shall remain valid and enforceable. <br />-1- <br />L GOFIO h FAIBANT <br />
