RESOLUTION NO. 867
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS URGING PASSAGE OF
AB378 (CHAPPIE), PUBLIC PATHS AND TRAILS GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills is one of the few
suburban communities in the State of California that encourages and provides,
through Ordinance, for the keeping of horses and for their utilization on
existing Town trails; and
WHEREAS, the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills provides, through
subdivision easements, hiking paths and trailway systems for the enjoyment of
persons residing within and without the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills offers accessibility for
bicyclists to traverse its rural and scenic roadways without restriction; and
WHEREAS, the increasing incidents of right-of-way conflict between
motorists and bicyclists, equestrians and pedestrians on narrow, confined, and
often precipitous roadways threatens the safety and welfare of all upon those
roadways; and
WHEREAS, the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills, wishing to be non-
exclusionary with respect to other than motor vehicle traffic, is, nevertheless,
without adequate funds to furnish, to its satisfaction, extensive and safe
passage lanes for conflicting roadway uses:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of the
Town of Los Altos Hills hereby urges the State Legislature to the early adoption
of AB378 providing for grant funds for the purposes of acquisition and
construction of bicycle, equestrian, and hiking paths and trails.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of the
Town of Los Altos Hills held on the 19th day of February, 1975, by the
following roll call vote:
AYE: Councilmen Cheney, Helgesson, Councilwoman Miller, Mayor Grabowski
NO: NONE
ABSTAIN: NONE
ABSENT: Councilman McReynolds
