A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF LOS ALTOS HILLS OPPOSING THE CLOSURE OF
THE STATE HOSPITALS FOR THE MENTALLY ILL AND
THE MENTALLY RETARDED
WHEREAS, the State of California has adopted the policy of caring for the
mentally ill and mentally retarded in local community programs and has started
to implement this policy by the closing of state mental hospitals; and

change is known; and
WHEREAS, substitute facilities and services are not available in the
communities; and
WHEREAS, present research does not indicate any reduction in mentally
retarded patients; and
WHEREAS, for the above-mentioned reasons, this stated action has and will
result in serious impact upon the patients and the various communities to the
detriment of both.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos
Hills that it hereby urges the Governor and the Legislature of the State of
