January 21, 1963
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills was
called to order by Mayor Wm. B. Clayton Monday, January 21 , 1963 at 7 : 59
F. M. at the Town Hall , 26379 Fremont Road , Los Altos Hills , California.
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Councilmen Aiken, Fowle , Henley, Mayor Clayton
ABSENT: None
MINUTES: December 17 , 1962.
ACTION:
Adopt Minutes of December 1.7, 1962 as submitted .
COMS".UNICATIONS : None .
ANNOUNNC EC EFTS :
1. Santa Clara County Boundary Commission - Notice of proposed annexations
(3) to the City of Mountain View designated as Levin No . 2, Bay No . 1 ,
and Church No . 11; to the City of Cupertino three annexations designated
as Rae 62-8, Crump 62-3, and San Juan 63-1.
Having no effect on the Town boundaries , the Clerk recommended the
notice be filed.
COMMITTEE RETORTS : None .
OLD BUSINESS : None .
NEW BUSINESS :
1. Newman, Um. T. - Reouest for Extension of Time for Filing Final _Nap -
Robleda 'fills Unit No. 3.
Letter of December 15 , 1962 requested an extension of time for filing
Final Nap for Robleda Hills Unit No . 3. Mr. Newman was present and
explained that , due to a misunderstanding of the previous request for
extension of time for filing Final Nap of Tract No. 3091 , the 5 lots
of Unit No. 3 were not included , and that it was the intention to nave
the extension granted to the fifteen (15) lots .
ACTION:
1 That the extension of time for. filing 9'inal Map of Robleda Tills
Unit No. 3 be granted to fovember 19 , 1963.
NOTION : Henley SECOND: Aiken; VOTE: Passed unanimously

ACTION:
That the request of Kendall E. Fuller (132-62) be apprn pal op
recommen:'ed by the Planning Commission.

2. Pafford Surdon R. (134-62) - Request for Reduction of Setback Re-
quirement for Residence .
ACTION :
That the request of Gurdon R. Fulford (134-62) be anrrove: .
recommended by the Planning Commission.
NOTION: Aiken; SECOND : Fowle ; VOTE : Passed unanimously
DIVISIONS OF LAND :
1 . Dreessen, Betty N. (24s-62) 4 lots . Engr . John D. Riley .
The Clerk stated that the Tentative Nap was previously approved by the
Council, but was cancelled because the Final Nap was not filed within
the specified period ; that the same Pap is to be considered.
The Clerk commented that the stable located on Lot No . 3 is a condi-
tional exception in setback requirement .
Arnow l of the Fire District was read.
The previous conditions relative to improvement of Edgerton Road were
read. No improvement was required at that time as it was determined
then that the road was in satisfactory condition.
The Planning Commission' s recommonation, at this time , is for improve-
ment of Edgerton Road to the Engineer' s standard. Commissioner Bowler
commented that there is a Flan for connection of Edgerton and Black
Mountain Roads ; that Edgerton Road cannot remain a private reod so
consenuertly Edgerton Road should be improved to Public Cont. Standard .
CPZ ON :
That the Tentative Map of Betty M. Dreessen (24 '-62) 4 lots be
approved , subject to the conditions of the 'Manning Commission' s
Check list , and that Edgerton Road be improved to Public Road
Standard.

to the end of Lot v .

gineering Funds .
Resolution was read, in its entirety, by the City Clerk.

2. Resolution No. 225 - Relative to the Death of Councilman Thomas
Sherlock.
Resolution No. 225 was presented and read by Councilman Ienlec .
"BE 1"- RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of Los
Altos Hills that this Councli and each member thereof do
hereby express for themselves and for the people of Los
Altos Hills a sense of profound and irreparable loss at
the death of Councilman Thomas Sherlock. The special
qualities of devotion, energy, humor, and loyalty to the
ideal image of this City which Thomas Sherlock brought to
his long public service cannot be replaced , and will not
be forgotten; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall be spread
upon the minutes of this Council and that a suitable copy
thereof be prepared and transmitted to Councilman Shorlock ' s
bereaved family.

City Clerk commented that the Ordinance was discussed sometime azo
and had had its first reading and , at the request of Counoilmtnl_ Fowles
has again been rlaced on the agenda.

` Councilman Eagle commented on the Section r l tH.ve to speed limits ,

the remaiedcr of the Ordinance be adopted .
The City °attorney stated. that Section XIV As needed in ties. OtElp :nce
and recommended the Ordinance be adopted intact.
Commissioner Bowler questioned whether or not traffic on private roads
would be regulated by this Ordinance .
The 'lttorney stated that there have been reouestE by rersons dn pri -
vate roads to have traffic regulated .
Councilman Fogle stated that he world go along with trio Srdi _nce with
the excention of the rowers delegated to the Chief of police .
Councilman Liken questioned whether or not the Chief of Police should
have the authority to place stop signs and how the signs woeId be raid
for.
Nr. Faisant stated that the cost of ssigns would havo to be included in
in the budget . He also statedthat the Council couldoverride metier.

Mayor Clayton instructed the Clerk to place the Traffic Ordinnnce on
the . geeda of the next meting for a public hearing and second reading,
and stated that he would adjourn the meeting to a study session.
Councilman Fowle presented bills , in the amount of fourteen Thousand Hine
Hundred Sixty `,even Dollars and Twenty-Fixe Cents ($14,967 .25) .

Er. Breymmn resuested the Council to reconsider the requirement for
paths for Tract Ho. 3280.
The City Manager explained that he har received no :appeal for recan-
ts,
sideration and that until such time ppe.al is received , rat-
ter eco-uld not appear on the agenda.
