Fowle Monday, January 16, 1961 at 7:50 P. M. at the Town Hall, 26379 W. Fremont , Los Altos Hills. ROLL CALL: PRESENT : Councilmen Liken, Clayton, Henley, Sherlock, Mayor Fowle ABSENT: None MINUTES: January 2, 1961. ACTION: :dept Minutes of January 2, 1961 as submitted. ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. County Boundary Commission - Notice of proposed annexation to the City of Palo Alto, designated as El Camino Annexation No. 4 and proposed annexation to the City of Santa Clara, designated as Whisman No. 3. COMMUNICATIONS: 1. League of California Cities - Notice of Meeting of Peninsula Di- vision to be held at Rickey's Studio Inn Restaurant on Thursday, January 26, 1961 at 7:30 P. M. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Public Hearin g - Thandonment of Public Utility Easement - Lots 1 and 2, Tract No. 2265. The City Clerk explained that these lots at the corner of Concep- cion Lye, and Viscaino Dr. were resubdivided and that there is no longer a need for this easement. The Mayor declared the Public Hearing and asked for comments from the Floor. There were none. The Public Hearing was declared closed. Order for Abandonment was read by the City Attorney. ACTION: That the Order for lbandonrent be approved as read. tie MOTION: Henley; SECOND : Clayton; ROLL CALL: AYES: Liken, Clayton, Henley, Sherlock, Mayor Fowle NOES: None ABSENT: None f 2. Matadero Mosquito Abat_rent District - Consideration of With-drawal. The City Clerk stated th6.t the City could obtain the same serve_ .:-= from the County that it npw receives from the Matadero Mosquito Abatement District, and for no additional taxes. (The City rc ; pays taxes to the MY!. District . ) He further commented, in an- swer to questions from Councilmen, that the Cities of Los Altos . Mountain View, and Palo flto are considering withdrawing from the District. The City '+ttorney advised the Council to declare its intent to withdraw. ACTION: That the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills de- clare its intention to withdraw from the Matadero Mosquito Abatement District upon the issuance, from the State De- partment of Fublic Health, a certificate of adequate a- batement control. MOTION: Clayton; SECOND: .liken.; VOTE: Passed unanimously The City Attorney stated that the Town is entitled to have a representative on the Board of the Matadero Mosquito Abatement District. Mr. Clayton J. Smith was appointed as the Town's representative. The Mayor set the date for a Special Meeting of the City Council to vote on the withdrawal from the Matadero Mosquito Abatement District for Monday, January 30, 1961 at 5:30 P. M. at the Town Hall. VARIANCES: 1. Quirk, Earl C. (V-68-60) - Request for Reduction of Side Yard Setback Requirements. The City Clerk reported that the F. C. recommended approval. ACTION: That the variance of Earl C. Quirk (V-68-60) be approved, subject to conditions of the Planning Commission's recom- mendation of Jan. 5, 1961. MOTION: Sherlock; SECOND: Clayton; VOTE: Passed unanimously 4 DIVISIONS-OF LAND: 1. Holm, Oscar B. (177-60) 7 lots. Engr. J. Riley. The City Clerk read the recommendation of the Planning Commission, approving the subdivision. Holm cont 'd. In reviewing the rap, it was noted that the land Mr. Holt_ acquire from Oscar Clarholn.. has not been approved as a subdiv sion. Mr. Holm suggested that action on his Map be delayed until division maps of Mr. Clarholn and Mr. Longson have been s'forrttod.. WARRANTS: Bill, in amount of $4,855.08, were presented by Councilman Clayton. ACTION: That the bill, in the amount of $4,855.08, be approved, and that the City Clerk be authorized to draw appropriate warrants for payment. MOTION: Clayton; SECOND : Aiken; ROLL CALL: AYES : Aiken, Clayton, Henley, Sherlock, Mayor Fowle NOES : None ABSENT: None ANNOUNCEMENTS : 1. Inter-City Council - Councilman Clayton announced that there will be a meeting of the Mayors ' Committee of the Santa Clara County Inter-City Council to the Report to the Governor on 'Metropolitan Area Problems ' , to be held in San Jose at the City Hall, Thurs- day, January 19th at 7:30 P. M. 2. Los Altos Garbage Co. - The City Attorney reported that the Hold Harmless clause has been added to the Agreement as was re- quested by the Council. MEETING ADJOURNED: 8:40 P.
