ROLL CALL: PRESENT : Councilmen Clayton, Sherlock, Mayor Fowle
Councilman Henley arrived 7:53 P. M.
ABSENT: Councilman Aiken
MINUTES: Octocer. 2, 1961.
ACTION:
Adopt Minutes of October 2, 1961 as submitted.
COMMUNICATIONS:
1. Santa Clara County Boundary Commission - Notice of proposed an-
nexations to the City of Los Altos , designated as Grant-St. Joseph
No. 7, and to the City of Mountain View, designated as Middlefield
No. 30.
To be filed.
2. W. D. Collins - Letter was received relative to use of firearms
in the Town of Los Altos Hills and recommending that the Ordi-
nance regulating the use of firearms be revised.
The City Clerk was asked to ascertain facts concerning an incident
referred by Mr. Collins, and to the place the matter on the Agenda
of the Council at a later date.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: None .
OLDBUSINESS:
1. Engineering Study - Reduction of Speed Limits.
Letter from the $ity Engineer, dated October 6, 1961, recommended
the speed limit be reduced from 35 MTH to 25 MFH on the following
streets:
Furissima Avenue between Arastradero and Moody Roads;
Concepcion Avenue between West Fremont and Furissina Avenues;
Robleda venue between West Fremont and Furissina Avenues.
Ordinance No. 79, reducing speed limits for vehicular traffic on
the above mentioned streets, effective upon placement of appro-
priate signs, and declaring the existence of an emergency, was
16 read in its entirety by the City Clerk.
ACTION:
That Ordinance No. 79 be adopted as read.

ments,
Resolution No. 169, accepting the improvements, was read in its
entirety by the City Clerk.

2. Smitii1-Raymond I� &Lynne Kittle - Request to Purchase Fablic
Property.
Letter from Mr. & Mrs. Smith, dated October 1 1961, was received
with an offer of One Hundred Dollars (93100.00) for acquisition of
a parcelof land lying between Lot 2, Tract No. 1908 Esperanza
Hills and Concepcion Avenue (about .2 acre) presently owned by
the Town of Los Altos Hills.
Resolution No. 170, authorizing the sale of the real property
mentioned , was read in its entirety by the City Clerk.
ACTION:
That the matter be tabled until the next meeting.

1. Lee., Ralph B. (V-86-61) - Reduction of Side Yard Setback Require-
ments to 20' for Residence Addition.
ACTION:
That the request of Ralph B. Lee (V--86-61) for reduction of
side yard setback requirements be approved.

ACTION:

ACTION:
That the Final Map of James C. Hicks, Tract No. 3053 be ap-
proved.

3. Santa Clara County Water Commission. Appointment of Representa-
tive for the Town of Los Altos Hill.
ACTION:
That the Mayor be appointed the principle representative of
the Town of Los Altos Hills to the Santa Clara County Water
Commission; that Councilman Sherlock be appointed as Alternate

The Mayor asked the opinion of Councilmen relative to the follow-
ing notion which will be voted on by the members of the Water
Commission: "That the 'Dater Commission recommend to the Board
of Supervisors that each city be given the right to determine
whether or not they wish to be included in any district estab-
lished for the purpose of financing the importation of water via
the South Bay ;'.queduct ; said self-determination to be made within
a reasonable period. "
Councilmen concurred , favoring the resolution.

/+r' 5, Police & Traffic Control - Fcothill College Area.
The City Clerk consented on the traffic coverage in the Foothill
College area by the Sheriff 's Department.
WARRANTS:
Dills were presented by Councilman Clayton, in the amount of 31997.28.
ACTION:
that bills , in the amount of $1997.28, be approved; that the
City Clerk be authorized to draw appropriate warrants.
