MINUTES OF A R WLAR MEETING
October 3, 1960
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills
was called to order Monday, October 3, 1960 at 7:54 P. M. at the Town
Hall, 26379 W. Fremont Avenue, Los Altos Rills.
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Councilmen Aiken, Clayton, Henley, Sherlock,
Mayor Fowls
ABSENT: None
MINUTES: September 19. 1960.
ACTION:
Adopt Minutes of September 19, 1960 as submitted.
COMMUNICATIONS:
1. Cpu$ty Boyad¢ry Coqmiesiop - Notice of proposed annexation design-
ated as Grant-St. Joseph No. 6 to the City of Los Altos.
Filed.
2. Furissima School Taths - Letter of thanks for the installation of
paths for the Pur ssiima School.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: None.
COMMITTEE RETORTS: None.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. California Water Service Company - Request for Franchise.
Upon the recommendation of the City Attorney, the Council denied
the application for a franchise to the California Jater Service
Company.
The City Attorney was asked to draft an amendment to Ordinance
No. 52, relative to the requirement of posting of bonds by a
Class L utility.
2. Stop Sign - Chapin and Burke Avenues.
Report of survey, made by the Sheriff's Department, was presented
by the City Clerk, said reporlrecommending some changes to allevi-
ate the flow of traffic at the intersection of Chapin & Burke
Avenues, but did not recommend installation of a "Stop" sign.
Ilir ACTION:
That no action be taken relative to installation of a "Stop"
sign at the insection of Chapin and Burke Avenues.

The Clerk was instructed to suggest *.o the Los Altos School Dis-
trict that they consider changing thu school bus stop at this in-
tersection, and to notify the roe_flonts on Sunset Drive of the
Council 's decision.
NEtJ BUSINESS:
1. Palo Alto School District - Recuest for Paths to the Fremont Hills
School.
Letter from Mr. Henry M. Gunn, Supt . of the Palo Alto Unified
School, was read, recuesting a path from the Town Hall to St .
Francis Drive.
The matter was referred to the Planning Commission for recommenda-
tion.
Letter, doted Sept. 23, 1960 and signed by eleven residents living
on Esperanza, Concepcion, Viscaino and Camino Medic Avenues, was
road, requesting 25 MPH speed lioit signs and "S" curve signs be
erected on Concepcion Ave. , a crosswalk at the intersection of
Concepcion Ivo. and Viscaino Dr. , the construction of a path from
Viscaino Dr. to Esperanza Dr. , thence to :`.scension Avenue.
This matter of traffic signs was referred to Councilmen Clayton
and Sherlock, the Council' s Road Committee, for a recommendation.
2. UN Day Proclamation - The Mayor proclaimed Monday, October 24th,
1960 Un Day in the Town of Los Altos Hills.
3. Request for Street Name Change - Cul de Sac Way to Sherlock Road.
The Clerk stated that a letter had been received from Mr. Wayne
W. Litchfield. and a petition signed by fourteen residents on Cul
de Sac 'Jay requesting Cul de Sac lay be changed to Sherlock Road.
The City Attorney was asked to draft a resolution proposing the
change , to be acted on later.
4. The appointment of Mrs. Louise Fortriode as City Treasurer for the
Town was announced by the rayor with the concurrence of the Council,
VARIkNCES & USE PERMITS:
1. Giusti, V. E. (V-63-60) - Request for "oproval of a Building Site.
The recommendation of the Planning Commission of Sept . 17, 1960
was road by the Clerk.
Mr. Giusti stated his objections to granting an easement over his
property to the Flood Control District.
Following discussion, the following action was taken:

That the proposed building site of ?Tr. & Mrs. V. E. Giusti
(V-63-60) bo approved subject to all conditions suggested
by the Planning Commission with this specific exception:
That it be a condition of approval that an easement upon
and along adobe Creek (to the extent of lands in said build-
ing site within the Town of Los Altos Hil] s) , ten feet (10' )
on each side of the center line thereof, for the purposes
of channel clearance, be granted the Town of Los Altos Hills..
MOTION: Henley; SECOND: Clayton; VOTE: Passed unanimously
DIVISION OF LAND:
1. Wilson, James C. Tract 2811 (Final Map) - :mgr. Riley.
ACTION:
That the Final Map of James C. Wilson, Tract 2811 be approved.
MOTION: Sherlock; SECOND: Clayton; VOTE: Passed unanimously
NEW BU:INESS: Cont 'd.
5. City Treasurer - Mrs. Louise Fortriedo was sworn into office by
the City Clerk.
WARRANTS:
Pills were presented by Councilman Clayton,
ACTION:
That bills, in the amount of $2,126. 54, be approved; that the Clerk
be authorized to draw tho appropriate warrants.
RESOLUTIONS:
1. Resolution No. 134 - Changing Altamont Avenue to Altamont Road.
The Resolution was presented and road in its entirety by the City
Attorney.

Adopt Resolution No. 134 as road.
