RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS ENDORSING THE GOOD
OUTCOME PLAN "GO PLAN" FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
WHEREAS, the City Council places great value in public education and
has an interest in preserving existing public school choices for the residents of
Los Altos Hills; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of students in the Town of Los Altos
Hills to attend any Los Altos School District or Palo Alto Unified School District
school located in Los Altos Hills without penalizing either district financially; and
WHEREAS, the Good Outcome Plan ("GO Plan") will offer a parent-
friendly, multi-year, inter-district transfer option that spans the elementary school
years of students; and
WHEREAS, the making of porous school district borders between the
Palo Alto Unified School District and the Los Altos School Districts shall
accomplish this purpose; and
WHEREAS, the GO Plan will improve Los Altos Hills representation in
the Los Altos School District and the Palo Alto Unified School Districts;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the Town does RESOLVE as
follows:
The principles articulated in the GO Plan are in the public interest. The City
Council endorses the following four goals set forth in GO Plan:
1. Preservation of existing school choices for Los Altos Hills
residents.
2. Make the border porous between the Palo Alto Unified School
District and the Los Altos School District.
3. Improve Los Altos Hills representation in the Palo Alto Unified
School District and the Los Altos School District.
4. Strive for a win-win solution, exploring all options to enable
Bullis Charter School to be located in Los Altos Hills.
The foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the Town held on the 8th day of March, 2007 by the following
vote:
AYES: Mayor Warshawsky, Mayor Pro Tem Jones,
Councilmember Kerr, and Councilmember O'Malley
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmember Mordo
ABSTAIN: None
