MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MBVTING
March 170, 1958
The meeting of the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills was
called to order by Deputy Mayor Rothwell Monday, March 172, 1958 at
7:58 P. M, at the Town Hall, 25379 West Fremont, Los Altos Hills.

NEW BUSINESS:
1.' Adobe Creek Lodge - Deputy Mayor Rothwell mentioned article ap-
pe ing in the-Mronicle stating that Adobe Creek Lodge would
revert back to its oFiginal stitus of public picnic grounds.
The -City ,Attorney was asked to comment. He stated that negoti.
ations were under way between the parties concerned and as yet
no definite decision has been reached.
2. Resolution #b2, - Assessments of Agricultural Lands.
The Resolution was read in its entirety by Councilman Bledsoe.

3• Ordinance 4 amending Ordinance #45. Second Reading.
The Ordinance was read in its entirety by the City Clerk.
ACTION:
That Ordinance A7 be adopted as read.

There was discussion as to whether or not a subdivider could sub-
mit a bond or cash to cover drainage only or road improvements
only..
It was pointed out that under the Ordinance, the subdivider may
elect to do the work himself or deposit a bond or cash as required
by contract'to be approved by the City Council.
It was stated that no 'piece meal' arrangements will be accepted
by the Town. All contracts will have to cover the entire require-
ment regarding off site drainage or road improvement.

4.. Freew - Deputy Mayor Rothwell commented regarding the announce-
ment of the decision of the County of Santa Clara Board of Super-
visors favoring the Purissima Valley or "C" route.
During the discussion, questions were raised regarding the 4 or 6
lane boulevard proposed for the City of Los Altos to follow along
the Southern Pacific tracks to Stanford Industrial Fark. How this
proposed expressway is to be financed was discussed. It was
stated that this expressway is called for in the Master Flan of
the City Los ,`�Itos. The possibility of Rapid Transit was mentioned.
The City Attorney mentioned, relative to transportation, that on
March 252 there will be a meeting of the Public Utilities Com-
mission to discuss the possible abandonment of the S. P. Station
in the City of Los Altos. Attorney Bullis pointed out that this
is the only public carrior coming into Town, and that there are a
number of people who depend solely upon this means of transportation.
Hesuggested that someone should attend this meeting.

Relative to the construction of access roads and feeder roads
intersecting the freeway and the financing of such roads, Council-
man Fowle explained that a letter is on file stating that there
is -existing legislation under which the State has the authority to
provide for the construction of such roads, but that the extent
of such construction is not established as yet.
Mrs. G. Sugden suggested that a letter be written to the City of
Los Altos inquiring whether or not they have had any communication
from the State or Uounty that they will receive any aid to build
the proposed 4 or 6 lane road.
Councilman Fowl.e.commented on the Study Session held by the Board
of Supervisors and comments were heard from Mr. William Geer and
Mr. George Pfeiffer.
Councilman Hoefler suggested that the Town should reiterate is
stand regarding the location of the proposed freeway.
Deputy Mayor Rothwell read a portion of Resolution #46, adopted
July 4b, 1957, which stated the Towns recommendation of the pro-
posed freeway location.
Deputy Mayor Rothwell recommended that a letter be addressed to
the County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisors requesting a full
statement of the facts leading to their decision recommending the
"C" route, the estimate of the cost of the proposed expressway,
and the method by which such cost is proposed to be financed.
ACTION:
That such a letter be addressed to the County of Santa Clara
Board of Supervisors.
MOTION: Bledsoe; SECOND: Fowle; VOTE: Passed unanimously
5. Warrants: Bills in the amount of 12,317.45 were presented for
paymen .
ACTION:
That the Council approve the bills for payment, and the City
Clerk be authorized to draw appropriate warrants.
MOTION: Fowle; SECOND: Hoefler

6. Zoning Ordinance - Letter deferred from Correspondence.
The letter of transmittal, listing certain Sections of the Ordi-
nance to be studied and revised, was read by the City Clerk.
It.was decided that the Council adjourn to a study session follow-
ing the meeting.

It was noted that.there will be other study sessions held with
members of both the Council And Planning Commission present.
Notice will be given in advance so that the public may attend.
