TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING
The meeting was called to order by Deputy Mayor C. Easton Rothwell,
Monday, December 161, 1957 at 7:55 P. M. at the Town Hall, 26379
West Fremont, Los Altos Hills.
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Bledsoe, Fowle, Hoefler, Deputy Mayor Rothwell
ABSENT: Mayor Treat
MINUTES: December 99 1M.
ACTION:
Approve minutes of December 96, 195? as presented.
CORRESPONDENCE:
1. State of California Automobile Association. Letter stating that
Mr. ogg ofthe Division will be in Los Altos Hills
Thursday, December 192, 1957 to make the traffic survey requested
by the Council.
The City Clerk stated that the report would probably be available
about two weeks from that date.
2. Lawrence Dawson - Copy of letter sent to the Citizens Committee.
Letter cites a traffic incident involving a vehicle of the
Jefferson Company occurring bet,aeen Summerhill & University Avenue
on El Monte.
It was agreed that the County Sheriff's Office should be notified,
as this is not within the jurisdiction of the Town. Mr. Dawson
will be.notified by the City Clerk.
3. L. G. Brian - Requesting that the City Clerk sign the map of
7remontolls Unit #}`4 for recording, pending the decision on
road improvement and drainage fees in lieu of fees required by
Ordinance #39.
The Council is awaiting the Committee's report, and the City Clerk
is not authorized to sign maps until all fees are paid.
4. LeeaUe of California Cities - Requesting a payment of !10.00
assessment.
ACTION:
That the City Council remit 110.00 on the basis indicated in
the letter.

NEW BUSINESS:
1.. Mrs. Irma Goldsmith - Explained plans for Yule Party for the
Town o tos A'. os ills.
Mrs. Goldsmith explained that all residents of the Town are in-
vited to a Yule Party to be held Sunday, December 22nd, 1957, 3 PM,
in the Town Hall. Everyone is welcome.
Everyone is asked to come to the Party with a wrapped gift for a
boy or girl of any age which will be given to the Santa Clara
County Welfare to be distributed to some 900 children under
County Welfate. Mrs. Goldsmith stated that any item will be
welcome --clothing, used toys, bicycles, baby buggies, etc.
Anyone wishing to make donations for the party is asked.to call
Mrs. Goldsmith at WH -8-2487. Donations of food, decorations,
money, etc. are being accepted
The suggestion that the teen-agers in the Town of Los Altos Hills
be permitted to have a dancing party during the Holiday Season
was presented by Mrs. Goldsmith, requesting the Council's con-
sideration.
ACTION:
That the City Council approve the use of the Town Hall under
appropriate regulation for a party by a teenage group in the
Town to be scheduled persuant to the recomtendation of the
Committee to be appointed by the Mayor.
MOTION: Bledsoe; SECOND:, Hoefler; VOTE: Passed unanimously
Committee for the party: Mrs. Goldsmith, Councilman Fowle, and,
Deputy Mayor Rothwell.
2. Oscar Holm - Appointed to the Planning Commission.
ACTION:
That Mr. Oscar Holm be appointed as a member of the Planning
Commission.

Commissioner Dawson reported the recommendation of the rlanning
Commission stating that the Commission had approved the use, with
the condition that plans for the specific operation will be pre-
sented later for approval.

Mr. Price stated that, at this time, Fremont Hills Development
Company wants assurance that a Club can be established, and
stated that his company would meet the

That the Council approve the recommendation of the Planning
Commission, with reference to development of a private re-
creational club on the Fremont Hills Subdivision, with the
proviso that there be added to the recommendation that the
use shall be for a private, non-profit, recreational club,
with private membership with first priority of application
being given to lot owners in Fremont Hills, second priority to
residents of Los Altos Hills, and third priority to those
dwelling outside of Los Altos Hills, and that all other con-
ditions in the recommendation by the Planning Commission be
approved, said recommendation made at the meeting of Dec-
ember 50, 1957.

4. Subdivision:
W. A. Edson - (81-57) 2 lots, Engr. Nolte.
Commissioner Dawson explained that this property had not been
been approved as a building site because of inadequate access
and water supply for fire protection.
ACTION:
That the subdivision, tract #2045, for Mr. td. A. Edson, be
approved subject to.the addition on the map of the statement
"not approved as a building site"; such statement being placed
on the lot with 1.002 acres, and that the final approval for
a building site be granted when the conditions required by the
fire district are met as stated in letter of June 24m, 1957•
MOTION: Fowle; SECOND: Hoefler; VOTE: Passed unanimously
5. Resolution #57 - Granting a leave of absence to Mayor Treat.
ACTION:
That Resolution #57 be adopted.
MOTION: Fowle; SECOND: Rothwell; VOTE: Passed unanimously

WARRANTS: Bills in the amount of 1566.75 presented for payment.
ACTION:
That the Council approve bills in the amount of 3566.75 for
payment and the City Clerk be authorized to draw the appro-
priate warrants.
