Treat. ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Mayor Treat, Bledsoe, Fowle, Hoeflet ABSENT: Councilman Rothwell MINUTES: August 12, 1957. Minutes stand as approved. CORRESPONDENCE: i. Geor e W. Evans, II, 14 11 De Bell Drive, Los Altos Hills. Dated: August 8, 1 57. Re: Freeway. Councilman Fowle will acknowledge letter from Mr. Evans concerning the routing of the Freeway. OLD BUSINESS.- 1. USINESS: 1. Variance for the City Hall. Memorandum from City Attorney Bullis. wed: Augus=, =- Variance is not required as the City Hall is not in any way violating any existing ordinance or regulation under its present location. 2. Joint 2LtZ-County Agreement. ACTION: The Mayor be injpowex4to sign the agreement between the Town of Los Altos Hills and County of Santa Clara relating to their share of the cost of the traffic survey. Motion: Fowle; Second: Bledsoe; Vote: Passed ROLL CALL: AYES: Mayor Treat, Bledsoe, Fowle, Hoefler NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Rothwell - 2 - 3. Library Rental Agreement with Santa Clara County, City of Los Altos and. owwn of Los Altos FIills. ACTION: Mayor be authorized to execute the agreement in behalf of the Town of Los Altos Hills with reference to our agreement to pay a portion of the rental for the library to be established in Los Altos at the .figure of $37.00 per month, our proportion- ate share of 14.8%. Motion: Bledsoe; Second: Hoefler; Vote: Passed ROLL CALL: AYES: Mayor Treat, Bledsoe, Fowle, Hoefler NO 7S : None ABSENT: Councilman Rothwell 4. Contract for the repair of roads for the year 1957-58. ACTION: Mayor be authorized to execute t�L,3 agreement on Martin Taaffe contract for road maintenance work. Motion: Bledsoe; Second: Hoefler; Vote: Passed ROLL CALL: AYES: Mayor Treat, Bledsoe, Fowle, Hoefler NO S : None ABSENT: Councilman Rothwell 5. ]drainage Agreement was postponed until the next meeting of the City Council. e. Magdalena Problem. Councilman Bledsoe read the report by City Attorney Bullis in reply to the letters and questions submitted by the Town of Los Altos Hills Association. The following individuals appeared before the Council: Mrs. Sugden, Mr. Paul Nash, Mr. Fred Gutt, Mr. William Simrell, Mr. & Mrs. Baxter, Mrs. Woods, Mr. J. E. Johnson, Mrs. Treat, Mr. Richard Bullis, Mr. Hart Tantau, Mr. Malcolm Smith, Mr. George Pfeiffer, Jr. and Dr. Clyde Boise. ,A petition signed by property owners of the Town of Los Altos Hills pertaining to quarry operation and truck hours was sub- mitted. Questions 1 and 2 were referred to the City Attorney and question 3 to Don Hibner, Road Commissioner, by the Mayor. -3 - ACTION : The City Attorney and the Chiof. of Polieebe authorized to negotiate a supplemental contract with the Sheriff's office of Santa Clara County to increase our traffic control with particular emphasis on El Monte, Stonebrook and Magdalena area - not to exceed $500.00. Motion: Fowle; Second: Bledsoe; Vote: Passed ROLL CALL: AYES: Mayor Treat, Bledsoe, Fowle, Hoefler- NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Rothwell CORRESPONDENCE: 1. John E. Painter, Regional Transportation Manager, U. S. Post Offics, San Francisco, California. Re: Mails for Los Altos Hills. A letter was received wit'z the following statement: "Los Altos Hills was added to the "California Localities" list but cannot be added to the alpha)etical list of post offices and do not appear in any California distribution schemes. For that reason patrons residing in Los Altos Hills should have their mail addressed to the post office through which it is delivered, otherewise it is quite possible that some of it will be returned to sender endorsed: "No such post office in State named." OLD BUSINESS: 3 1. Proposed Subdivision Ordinance No.,M on Fees for Drainage and Roads. After considerable discussion on the above topic, M$yor Treat appointed a committee of Attorney Bullis, City Engineer McCandless, Tom Sherlock and Councilman Hoefler to further check the Ordinance and help to redraft same. 2. Accept Bid for Audit - $250.00 - Carson & McDonald.. ACTION: Grant the contract to audit the books for the Town of Los Altos Hills to Carson & McDonald. The amount not to exceed $250.00 Motion:- Fowle; Second: Treat; Vote: Passed
