TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
DECEMBER 129 1956
The meeting was called to order at 7:45 P.M., Wednesday,
at Purissima School,
ROLL CALL: Present - Mayor Sidney W. Treat, Councilmen
Leighton M. Bledsoe, J.M. Fowle,
C. Easton Rothwell.
Absent - bone
MINUTES:
The first order of business was the appointment of Raymond
0. Hoefler to fill the expired term of T.E. Dungan. It was
moved by Mayor Treat and seconded by Councilman Rothwell
that R.O. Hoefler be appointed. It was carried by the
following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Bledsoe, Fowle, Rothwell,
Mayor Treat.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
Raymond 0. Hoefler was sworn in as Town Councilman by the
City Clerk.
Mayor Treat read a letter regarding the Mayor's council
and advised that he would be unable to attend.
A letter from the City of Los Altos was read inviting members
of the Council and Road Commission to attend a meeting
regarding roads. Mayor Treat, Road Commissioner Hibner,
Attorney Bullis, and Councilman Hoefler expressed the desire
to attend.
The resignation of Chief of Police, Joseph McKenna was
read and it was moved by Councilman Bledsoe and seconded
by Councilman Hoefler that the same be accepted with regret.
Carried by voice vote.
Councilman Rothwell offerred Resolution No. 40, which RESOL. mid
when signed by all the Councilmen, will be mailed to
`�. Mr. McKenna.

A letter was received from Louis F. Wilson, 25102 O'Keefe
%F Lane, directing a complaint to the Council regarding a
tractor repair shop and storage of tractors which are used
for outside work. It was moved by Councilman Fowle and
seconded by Councilman Rothwell that the Mayor be empowered
to ask the Sheriff's Office to investigate and report back
at the next meeting.
A letter from the California State Automobile Association
was read by the City Clerk advising that lead limit and
speed limit could not be shown on the same sign and if a
25 m/h limit was established it would have to apply to all
vehicles using that road.
Councilman Rothwell reported on the changing of the name
of Los Altos Hills and advised everyone to read the recently
established bulletin and asked for votes naming their
choice of names.
Mayor Treat commented on the excellent results in getting
out the first bulletin and gave credit to Mr. Koehn, Mrs.
Sugden and Mr. Pfeiffer who donated the printing.
Mayor Treat appointed Mr. Ernest Brittan a member of the
Road Commission.
r A letter from the Department of Agriculture on Fire hazard
was read by the City Clerk who was asked to investigate
and advise them accordingly.
Councilman Bledsoe reported the leak in the water pipe
causing a hole in the road at Robleda and Chappin had been

The first payment amounting to $4,839.30 was presented for BILL
payment. It was moved by Mayor Treat and seconded by
Councilman Rothwell that a check be drawn for that amount
in favor of Holger Spohr, the contractor. 0a-,"zef -Ax j
Mayor Treat announced the donation of $1,000 by Mrs. Ina ACBNOWLEDG&
S. Dawson and $29000 by Mr. C.E. Dawson to the Town Hall MENT OF GIFT
Building Fund.
The City Council authorized Attorney Bullis to check with
the County in regard to the trade of property originally
donated by Mr. A.E. Fowle to the Los Altos Fire District. -a
The Fremont Development Company offered to donate f
acre to the Los Altos Fire District, the original donation
of one-half acre to be used as parking space for the Town
of Los Altos Hills and Fire District.
Councilman Rothwell reported on amendments to Ordinance REPORT ON
No. 17 and advised that he was conferring with the Road AMENDMENTS TO
Commission and may have a report at the next meeting. ORDINANCE NO.

Record of Survey Map by R.C. ]Klock was approved by voice
vote.
Date of referendum election on Ordinance No. 19 was ORDINANCE
NO. 19
postponed,
Mayor Treat appointed Councilman Fowle and Councilman
Hoefler to investigate the appointment of a building
inspector and to report back at a later date.
Councilman Fowle recommended the appointment of Mr. Hugh
Monohan to report to the Council on the Library Board.
Moved by Councilman Bledsoe and seconded by Councilman
Fowle that Mr. Monohan be appointed to report to the Com-
mission as a delegate to the officials of Los Altos and
to be our selection as Commissioner when the Commission
is selected.
Mayor Treat reported on the Fire Arms Ordinance and requested
additional time for study. He also announced a personal
meeting at his house Saturday morning and a joint meeting
with tof of Altose Plannin°Hil
