TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
DECEMBER 1, 1956
The meeting was called to order at 9:45 A,* M., Saturday,
at Purissima School.
ROLL CALL: Present - Councilmen Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle,
Rothwell, Mayor Treat
Absent - None
MINUTES: It was decided that the minutes of the previous
meetings would be approved at the next meeting.
The mayor called attention to the citizens that the
council was now convened to hear protests in regard to
Ordinance No. 24, the disbanding of San Antonio Avenue.
There being no verbal or written protests, Resolution
No. 36 was presented by Councilman Rothwell abandoning
San Antonio Avenue, was seconded by Councilman Fowle
and carried by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle,
Rothwell, Mayor Treat
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
Councilman Rothwell reported that his committee trill
hold a meeting on the selection of a name for Los
Altos Hills next Monday and will report back at the
next meeting.
The council accepted the resignation of Mr. Macabee
as road commissioner and appointed Mr. Don Hibner to
take his place. The mayor also appointed Mr. Rex
Gardiner and Mr. Hanabal to serve on the road com-
mittee. It was moved by Mayor Treat and seconded by
Councilman Fowle that the appointments be confirmed.
Carried by voice vote.
Sw' Mayor Treat accepted the resignation of Councilman
Dungan with regrets.

Mayor Treat appointed Mr. Richard Dawson on the gifts
committee taking the place of Councilman Dungan. The
following gifts were acknowledged by the council:
Mrs. Jesse• Steinhart, 40 shares of Foremost Common
Stock, approximate value $800.00; Mr. Lester Bitney
desire" d the cupola, approximate cost $309.84;

buil a ated at $900.00; a letter from Mr. George
W. Evens, II, was read by the city clerk wherein he
desires to donate $50.00 at the rate of $10.00 per
month toward the city hall.
Mayor Treat suggested that the Foremost shares be sold.
It was moved by Councilman Rothwell, seconded by
Councilman Fowle that Mayor Treat be authorized to con-
summate a sale and was carried by voice vote.

by the following vote:

NOES: None
ABSENT: None
Mayor Treat reported regarding complaints from Mr. Gulick
on the shooting at the Pink Horse Ranch, and was referred
to the city attorney to look over the proposed ordinance
recommended by Sheriff Hawley and to bring his recommen-
dations at the next meeting.
It was moved by Mayor Treat, seconded by Councilman Roth- BILLS
well that bills amounting to $1830.14 be allowed and
ordered paid.
A letter from the County Agricultural Commission on fire
hazards was read by the city clerk, and on the suggestion
of Councilman Bledsoe, the city clerk was asked to check
with Fare Chief Bassett to see if there are any restric-
tions.
Amendments on Ordinance No. 17 was reported by Council- REPORT ON AMEND -
man Rothwell, and the council was advised that the MENTS TO ORD.

limit, but will try to take care of trucks affected
within the Town.

Mayor Treat advised that he will call a study session
with the planning commission to meet the fast develop-
ment of the Town of Los Altos Hills, and that he would
advise the council of such meeting.
A letter from the city attorney to Mayor Treat was

read in which he advised that the referendum election

on Ordinance No. 19 could not be held for six months.

tion. Councilman Bledsoe introduced R solution No.
1 rescinding the action of the council heretofore
taken in deciding to call an election and fixing
the date of January 22, 1957, with reference thereto
in connection with the referendum petition relating
to Subdivision Ordinance No. 19. Was seconded by
Councilman Rothwell and carried by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowles
Rothwell, Mayor Treat
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
It was moved by Councilman Bledsoe, seconded by
Councilman Fowle that action be deferred in regard
to setting a date of election until Wednesday,
December 12, 1956, and wad carried by voice vote.
Resolution No. 38 was presented by Councilman Roth- RESOL. NO. 38

the distribution of gas within the limits of the PACIFIC GAS &

The second reading of Civil Defense Ordinance No,
26 was presented. It was moved by Councilman
Bledsoe, seconded by Councilman Fowle that Ordi-
nance No. 26 be read by title only and was carried
by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle,
Rothwell,; Mayor Treat
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
It was moved by Councilman Fowle, seconded by Council-
man Rothwell that Ordinance No. 26 be adopted and was
passed by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle,
Rothwell, Mayor Treat
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
A report from Mrs. Moore of the Library Committee was
made as to the present status of the library board.
Councilman Fowle was asked to report if it might be
better for Los Altos Htlls to have a separate board
or to work with the city of Los Altos.
There being no further business, the meeting was
adjourned until 7:45 P. M., Wednesday, December 12,
1956, at Purissima School.
