M., Moiida7, at Purissima School, ROLL CALL: Present - Councilmen Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowles Rothwell, Mayor Treat Absent - None MINUTES: Not read. REPORTS: Councilman D:u ng.ah did not have information Dates of on dates of monthly meetings --will report back Monthly at the next meeting. Meetings Councilman Rothwell was unable to give a final Name Change report on changing the name, "Town of Los Altos of Town Hills" --will report back at the next meeting. ORDINANCE NO. 20 was presented for its second reading. Mayor Treat restated the purpose of this ordinance. After a general discussion, and reading of the title only, was moved by Councilman Bledsoe, seconded by Councilman Dungan and passed that further reading of this ordinance be waived. Ordinance No. 20 was moved for adoption by Councilman Dungan, seconded by Councilman Fowle and passed by the following vote: AYES: CoOncilmen Dungan, Fowles Bledsoe, Rothwell, Mayor Treat NOES: None ABSENT: None Ord. 20-Regu- 1ating Planting Maintenance & Removal of Trees & Shrubs A letter from the Mosquito Abatement District was presented Letter from and read by the City Clerk requesting immediate filling inold squito Abate. of abandoned cesspools and septic tanks. A motion was ment District Im 09 made by Councilman Bledsoe, seconded by Councilman Dungan and carried by voice vote that this problem be referred to the City Attorney. Mr. Simrell reported on the Town Hall situation and also checked the responsibility of the low bidder, Mr. Holger Spohr, whom he recommends very highly. He also advised the Council that sufficient funds have been pledged to complete the Town Hall and recommended that the contract be let. Councilman Fowle moved that having determined the low bidder, Mr. Ho1_6er Spohr, is a responsible party and the bid having been approved by Messrs. Simrell, Mc- Candless and Mellquist the bid is hereby accepted and the matter referred to the City Attorney for preparation of the contract and kindred matters. The Mayor or the Vice Mayor is hereby authorized to accept and execute the con- tract. Was seconded by $ouncilman Rothwell and carried by voice vote. Town Hall Report Low bid by Holger Spohr - $17$878.76 A letter from City Engineer McCandless was read on safety hazards. The Purissima Water District will properly light open ditches and barricade some where pipe lines are being ins talle d. Road Commissioner Don Hibner reported on work being done Report on on culverts, which is pretty well in hand,and also keeping Culvert Work within the budget. Ord. #2 After reading of the title only, was moved by Councilman Abandoning Bledsoe, seconded by Councilman Dungan and carried by Portions of voice vote that further reading of this ordinance be San Antonio Ave. waived. Chief of Police McKenna advised the Council that a re- port on signs will be ready by the end of the week. A committee consisting of Councilman Rothwell and Fowle looked into the situation involving signs that will re- quire some special treatment under Ordinance No. 17 as it comes into effect. They have also visited with Mr. Martin Taaffe. The committee would welcome sug- gestions. Mr. Steven James of 13470 Three Forks Road spoke on the Report on shooting situation on Page Mill Road. Chief of Police Shooting McKenna advised the Council that a model ordinance will be ready for the next meeting. - 2 - Council Minutes 10-15-56 A communication from the Library Committee, Mrs. Arthur Moore, weds presented by Mayor 'Treat. A report will be presented to the City Clerk for presentation to the councilmen. A letter from the Planning Commission was read by the City Clerk regarding Records of Survey for Mr. Kenneth Snow and Mr. Robert Poole, and a Subdivision Map of Mr. Victor Giusti. The Subdivision Map of Mr. Victor Giusti was approved by voice vote as recommended by the Planning Commission sub- ject to the condition set forth in the City Engineer's letter. The Record of Survey for Mr. Kenneth Snow was approved by voice vote in accordance with the recommendation of the Planning Commission. The Record of Survey for Mr. Robert Poole was approved by voice vote in accordance with the recommendation of the Planning Commission. A setback variance for Mr. Stanley Donner was approved by voice vote as recommended by the Planning Commission. Vin, A setback variance for Mr. Dwight E. Carey was approved by voice vote as recommended by the Planning Commission. Mayor Treat presented and read a letter from the City At- torney regarding the subdivision ordinance referendum. The petition will be referred to the City Clerk for check- ing of the signatures. Mayor Treat appointed a cormnittee consisting of Councilmen Bledsoe, Fowle and Rothwell to make a study after receiving a report from the City At- torney and City Clerk on this referendum petition. Councilman Rothwell read a statement regarding the referen- dum petition. Mayor Treat moved that the Council thank Councilman Rothwell for the statement just read and, as it accurately reflects the feelings of all the Council, that the statement is hereby endorsed. Was seconded by Council- man Fowle and carried by voice vote. Mr. George Pfeiffer was advised by the City Clerk that once the petition is out of his hands and in the hands of city officials, it is too late for names to be withdrawn.
