HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/25/1956CITY COUNCIL TOWN OF LOS ALIS HILLS MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING JULY 25, 1956 The meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 7:45 P. M., Wednesday, at Purissima School, ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmen Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowles Rothwell and Mayor Treat. Absent: None MINUTES: Not read. A letter from the City Council was read certifying the correctness, as to form, of the Referendum Petition. The City Clerk certified that there are sufficient signatures to uphold the petition. Councilman Rothwell suggested a complete review since enacting Ordinance No. 17 and was in complete accord with Ordinance No. 17. Councilman Dungan reviewed the testing of E1 Monte, Stonebrook and Page Mill roads and results convinced him something had to be done. Councilman Fowle said he was reluctant in supporting Ordinance No. 17 and wahts it put to a vote and that truck routes should be established. Councilman Bledsoe claimed truck routes can be established later. Mr. Walton asked that Ordinance No. 17 be rescinded. Mr. Mager claimed confusion and to rescind Ordinance No. 17 and reinact the safety features of the Ordinance after more discussion by citizens. RESOLUTION No. 23 was presented and read calling for a special municipal election on October 2, 1956, and on motion of Councilman Rothwell, seconded by Councilman Dungan, was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowles Rothwell and Mayor Treat NOES: None ABSENT: None REPORTS: Road Commissioner Macabee read a report on road maintenance and suggested that all work orders and inspection go through the City Clerk's office and was recommended by the Commission that the City Clerk be paid $75.00 per month for this extra work from the road fund. The City Council instructed Mayor Treat, Road Commissioner Macabee and the City Clerk to work out details. Commissioner Hibner reported that he had three contractors who had given him figures and sug ested that Mr. Taaffe be hired for 30 days at $6.00 to 6.50 per hour for one man and truck limiting costs to $2000. On motion by Councilman Dungan, seconded by Councilman Fowle, the City Clerk was authorized by the Mayor and also Road Commissioner Macabee to negotitLte a contract for road maintenance not to exceed $1800 for 30 days. Carried unanimously. On motion of Councilman Dungan, seconded by Councilman Fowle, tike Subdivision Map of the Pink Horse Ranch Unit #1 No. 1684 with provisions established by the Planning Commission, County Health Department and County Flood Control District was approved unanimously.
