HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/20/1956MINUTES OF THE COUNCIL MEETING M TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS, CALIFORNIA JUNE 20, 1956 An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Treat at 7:45 P. M., June 20, 19560 at Purissima School. The following councilmen were present upon roll call: Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowles Rothwell and Treat; absent, none. A reper t from the Hospital Committee was read and placed on file. A motion was made by Councilman Rothwell and seconded by Councilman Bledsoe that Resolution No. 20 be adopted accepting the map of Mr. Clarholm with provision that the 10 ft. on '*bry 4 Elizabeth Avenue be deeded to the city before issuing a building permit. Mayor Treat appointed the following citizens to the Library Board: Mrs. Frank Taylor and Mr. Harold Seacrest. A motion was made by Councilman Bledsoe and seconded by Councilman Fowle that the bid o#' $8.00 per hour of the Ica LVIT-el T, ►3 J. J. Jacobus & Co. be accepted. Carried unanimously. Mr. Hibner of the Road Committee reported on truck routes, and suggested that further study be made. Mayor Treat reported that a meeting of the Road Committee will be held at the Purissima school on Thursday, June 21st, at 7:45 P. M. A motion was made by Councilman Dungan that Ordi- nance No. 17 be read by title only and that further reading be deferred. Motion carried unanimously. Councilman Dungan read part of Ordinance No. 17, Articles 11, 12, 13, 14, also subsection (e), referring to trucks and moved Ordinance No. 17 for adoption, seconded by Councilman Rothwell and was opened for discussion. Councilman Fowle stated that he felt that this was no time to pass this ordinance, and would like further time ()R () 11 for study of the Road Committee. Councilman Dungan recommended that this be passed as read including the amendment to Ordi- nance No. 17 allowing truckers 120 days to complete their con- tracts they now have. Councilmen Rothwell and Bledsoe both commented favorably on the passage of the ordinance as read and stated that if any changes were to be made in the future, this ordinance could be amended. Comments from the floor were in order and Mrs. Wood, on Stonebrook Avenue, advised that residents in that area were very much in favor of passing the ordinance. Mr. Baxter re- commended the passage of the ordinance -with speed limits cut to 10 miles per hour on Stonebrook from Prospect to E1 Monte, Mr. H. W. Hoppe, a contractor on Stonebrook and E1 Monte, favored the passage of Ordinance No. 17. Upon call of the roll, Ordinance No. 17 was passed and - 2 - 6-20-56 adopted by the following vote: AYES: Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle, Rothwell and Treat NOES: None ABSENT: None Councilman Rothwell presented a tentative budget stating that it was impossible to give exact figures of the 1956-57 budget because of no records of past income and felt that expenses amounting to $209078, exclusive of roads, would be sufficient to operate. There being no further business, Mayor Treat adjourned the meeting to Wednesday, June 27th, at 7:45 P. M., at Purissima School. - 3 - City Clerk CE T �.
