HomeMy WebLinkAbout6/2/1956I is MINUTES OF THE COUNCIL MEETING OF TOW OF LOS ALMS HILLS, CALIFORN IA JUNE 2, 1956 A regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 9:30 A. M., June 2, 1956, at Purissima School. The following councilmen were present upon roll call: Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowles Rothwell and Treat. The reading of the minutes was deferred on motion of Councilman Fowles seconded by Councilman Bledsoe and carrLed unanimously as all minutes had been posted and copies sent to the councilmen. Mr. Sidney W. Treat was sworn in by City Attorney Bullis and then took over the duties as Mayor. The land division map of Mr. T. A. Dungan was recom- mended for approval by City Engineer McCandless stating that the Planning Commission had also approved it usyri - m1e. On motion by Councilman Bledsoe, seconded by Councilman Fowles was carried by the following vote: AYES: Bledsoe, Fowles Rothwell and Treat NOES: None ABSENT: None Councilman Dungan abstained from voting. It was moved by Councilman Fowle and seconded by Council- man Bledsoe authorizing City Attorney Bullis to sign the garbage contract. Motion carried unanimously. The police contract not being was deferred until the neat meeting. It was moved by Councilman Dungan and seconded by Councilman Bledsoe that the bills for the several amounts be paid. Motion carried. A report on insurance for the chief of police by Councilman Bledsoe was ,deferred until the next meeting awaiting further information. It was moved by Councilman Bledsoe and seconded by Councilman Dungan that the title only of Ordinance No. 16 be read. Upon call of the roll, was carried by the following vote: AYES: Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle, Rothwell and Treat NOES:: None ABSENT: None A motion was made by Councilman Dungan, seconded by Councilman BIe dsoe that further reading of this ordinance beyond the title be waived. Motion carried. �., ORDINANCE NO. 16 setting filing fees on land division was moved for adoption by Councilman Dungan, seconded by Council- man Bledsoe and passed by the following vote: AYES: Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle, Rothwell and Treat NOES: None ABSENT: None - 2 - 6-2-56 A report by Councilman Fowle on the $40,000 for re- pair of E1 Monte Avenue, originally applied by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and later was✓drawn for flood re- lief, was not encouraging. He recommended that the city council look into the legal aspects and report back at the next meeting. The city clerk informed the council that he had for- warded to Mr. John M. Fowle, Mrs. Louise Fowle Carter and Mr. aid Mrs. C. Earl Dawson Resolution No. 17 thanking them for their generous gift and that the $15,000 is now deposited in the bank under the Los Altos Hills Building Fund. It was moved by Councilman Dungan, see m ded by Council- man Fowle that Resolution No. 18,as prepared by the city attorney regarding the 10 -ft, strip granted by Mr. and Mrs. Fromhold and Mr. and Mrs. Teilhet, be accepted. Motion carried. The remaining time of the meeting was devoted to Road Ordinance No. 17. City Engineer McCandless reported on sauples of the type of paving on El Monte, Stonebrook and Page Mill Road, Mayor Treat read portions of the ordinance and a general dis- cussion and different phases were presented. Attorney Peters, representing Freeman Paving Company and quarries, stated that the truckers have no serious objections to the proposed ordinance as stated therein. The Mayor asked City Engineer McCandless to further study the comparison of the different roads in the Town of Los - 3 - 6-2-56 Altos Hills. A motion was made by Councilman Rothwell and seconded by Councilman Bledsoe that the meeting be adjourned until 7:45 P.
