HomeMy WebLinkAbout5/14/1956MINUTES OF THE COUNCIL MEETING riva TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS, CALIFORNIA MAY 14, 1956 An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7:45 P. M., May 14, 1956, at Purissima School. The following councilmen were present upon roll call: Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle and Rothwell; absent, Treat. A motion was made by Councilman Rothwell, seconded by Councilman Fowle that the Town of Los Altos Hills spend $6,000.00 a year for sheriff's services, same to be increased by mutual agreement if necessary and that Sheriff Hawley, Town of Los Altos Hills Police Chief McKenna and City Attorney Bullis work out a contract. Chief of Police McKenna reported the following prices on installation of traffic signs: Stop: $11.50 Town: 15.03 Yield Right of Way: 18.92 He was requested by the City Council to check with the Safety Council and engineers about recommendations of where to place stop signs and an ordinance regarding speed limits. ORDINANCE NO. 13 was presented for the second reading. This ordinance regulates the collection and disposal of garbage. It was moved by Councilman Bledsoe and seconded by Councilman Fowle 19 that this ordinance be read by title only. Motion carried. Ordinance No. 13 was moved for adoption by Councilman Bledsoe, seconded by Councilman Fowle and passed by the following vote: AYES: Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle and Rothwell NOES: None ABSENT: Treat ORDINANCE N8, 12 was deferred on a motion by Council- man Bledsoe, seconded by Councilman Fowle and passed by the following vote: AYES: Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle and Rothwell NOES: None ABSENT: Treat ORDINANCE NO. 16 setting filing fees on land division was read in its entirety by City Attorney Bullis. After considerable discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Bledsoe, seconded by Councilman Rothwell that this not be an emerge rty ordinance and passed by the following vote: AYES: Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle and Rothwell NOES: None ABSENT: Treat ORDINANCE, NO. 1was presented for the second reading prohibiting possession, use or operation of any pinball machines, marble machines, etc. It was moved by Councilman Fowle and seconded by Councilman Rothwell that this ordinance be read by title only. Motion carried unanimously. A motion was made by - 2 - 5-14-56 Councilman Fowles seconded by Councilman Bledsoe that this ordi- nance be adopted and was passed by the following votes AYES: Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle and Rothwell NOES: None ABSENT: Treat Vice Mayor Dungan instructed City Attorney Bullis and Sheriff Hawley to investigate the quarry on Central Avenue.
