RESOLUTION NO. 500
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
LOS ALTOS HILLS AMENDING POSITION CLASSIFICATION
PLAN
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS HEREBY RESOLVES
THAT:
The "Position Classification Plan" for employees of the Town of
Los Altos Hills is hereby amended by adding the position of
"SECRETARY-STENOGRAPHER I". Said job description for the "Secretary-
Stenographer I" is attached hereto and incorporated by reference.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was passed and
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the Town of
Los Altos Hills on January 20, 1969 by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen Benson, Davey, Fowle, Helgesson, Mayor Aiken.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.

JOB DESCRIPTION
SECRETARY-STENOGRAPHER I
NATURE OF WORK
This ise
g neral clerical work, involving the performance of a variety
of specialized and difficult clerical work requiring the use of typing
and shorthand skills. Responsibilities will include public relations
contact as a receptionist, as well as the alleviation for the super-
visor of administrative and clerical details. The position will be
directly subordinate to the City Manager.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Will type from dictation, copy or general instructions correspondence,
reports,p rts, memorandums, notices, etc. , from supervisor or staff; reviews
materials for errors in grammar and English usage; serves as receptionist
for supervisor and staff, receiving callers, providing information,
answering complaints, or scheduling appointments with supervisor; attends
various meetings such as Planning Commission and City Council meetings,
and takes shorthand notes of proceedings; types, assesmbles, and distributes
reports and minutes; receives, opens, and routes supe vis

schedules meetings and conferences for supervisor; maintains files,
including those containing confidential material; orders supplies; receives,
indexes, files, and routes applications forpermits, variance ' rezoning

p nning, zoning and building inspection matters.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to write and speak effectively.
Ability to maintain modern filing and indexing methods.
Ability to operate common office machines.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Experience in work involving public contact, including experience in a
variety of clerical duties.
